I watch a good amount of Wings games, and Cleary is a very solid player. He was excellent in the playoffs last year as well. I think there is plenty of tread left on his tire.
I think he's better suited for what the Flyers need than Gagne. He adds sandpaper and grit, and is a pain in the ass to play against. He's also less of an injury risk than Gagne. I'm not thrilled with the contract terms, but I guess it's the cost of doing business.
Truly amazing that the concussion horsepoop is starting right out of the gate. It's really beyond old at this point. |

I expect Talbot to be traded asap. There would definitely be interest for him, the Flyers need to clear some salary, and Clearly obviously makes for a stronger 3rd line.
I like the signing a lot. Not crazy about the no-trade though. It seems to be in just about EVERY contract under Homer. |

Probably something along these lines.
Hartnell/Giroux/Voracek
B.Schenn/Lecavalier/Simmonds
Cleary/Couturier/Read
Talbot/Hall/Rinaldo |

Not sure why they would trade Talbot. He's signed to a good term. Cleary and Talbot are somewhat similar players, but you can never have too many glue guys. |

seems like the easiest way to get rid of salary, though ... and get value in return. |

Those are some very solid lines, I like them since every line seems like it can run you through the boards and be very defensively responsible. |

To be honest I would take Mason over Nabby as my starting goalie. - DDM-Coga
Nabakov still has third degree burns on his neck from the red light in last years playoffs. |

I think it's a good mix. Team defense must improve, and of course there is a question between the pipes as always. |

Talbot would be an attractive asset for other teams because of his cap friendly price and what he brings to the ice.

Flyers need more guys like Cooke so they can give you the warm and fuzzies. |

Exactly why the Flyers should keep him. |

I worry about the Schenn-Vinny-Simmer line defensively. Although, I don't think Lavi will put them in many defensive zone situations. He has G, Coots and Hall to take those faceoffs now. |

you guys have done some aggressive moves this offseason, and a lot of people have given the flyers the gears about it, but I liked all the moves you did.
Mason/Emery are a solid tandem, very under rated.
Streit , even though a lot of money, got the best dman on the market, will help the PP
Lecavalier, solid signings, doesnt have to be the guy in Philly, gets to play with a more balanced top 6 compared t Tampa,
Cleary, you win with these guys in the playoffs, a do anythign and everything kind of guy.
You didnt plug holes with one year guys, all of them are long term, I think its a solid team. |

Isn't one of Vinny's strengths defensive zone faceoffs? |

Relevance? Im not seeing it.
Cooke is gone.
The Flyers go out of their way, in spite of trying to become a better team; to make themselves the most hate able organization in the history of professional sports. That cant win championships.

You can quibble with some of the contract terms, I don't love all the moves, but I think the Flyers have done a nice job reshaping the roster.
Sure there are question marks, but nearly every team has them. The key is improving the overall team defense, and somehow staying relatively healthy. If those happen, I think this is a solid playoff team.
