Doomed? Still mostly a veteran team a little hard work and luck and could be contending for a playoff spot. |

If they can go injury free they can hoover around 8th-12th. Team doesn't look THAT bad, but when you compare them to the talent on other teams you get to see where they may faulter. |

Behind LA, ANA, SJ, VAN. Best shot is to finish ahead of EDM and PHX and hope you beat the 4th team in the Central for the 8th seed.
Or trade every vet, blow it up and go young. CALG seems to be stuck in the never land of missing the playoffs, but not being one of the worst 3. |

I think Knight & Cundari are going to crack the lineup at the start of the season. Its gonna be a tough year, that usually happens in year 1 of a rebuild. What more can you say, its time the young guys step up & show why they should be making big bucks in this league. |

This team has no shot at beating Edmonton or Phx.
Unless Ramo has a Bobrovski type season they will likely finish last. |

The Flames had a productive draft this year! Likely will be picking in the top 10 in the next two drafts. By doing this they should set themselves up nicely to contend year after year.
Monohan is gonna be a force. Poirier and Klimchuk were also great picks! Add these players to the stockpile including Baertschi and Backlund and the Flames will be doing just fine.
However, I do think they missed out in 2012 by picking Jankowski ahead of Maatta, Gaunce and even Pearson. If you plan on drafting high in the next couple of years it may be wise to remove Feaster IMO. |

Your top 6 isn't great, but it can probably compete without embarassing itself. Same goes for your top pairing on the blueline. Not among the league's best, but could probably get it done on a deep team.
The problem is that your bottom 6 and your 4-7 defensemen are probably the worst in the NHL at this point.
They are going to get destroyed out there, especially on the road where opposing coaches get the matchups they want.
And the goaltending? Goddamn, you better hope for a breakout season. |

I think Feaster has done well, actually. All things considered (outside of Jankowski) his picks have been quite good. And even with Jankowski, we wont know for another year/two what he has to offer so its tough to judge. |

I agree. Last years draft compared to this years draft is certainly night/day. I just feel these next two years are so critical that I would at least entertain the notion of bringing in someone with a better track record. Hopefully for the Flames sake he drafts like he did in 2013 and not 2012 |

I don't know what is going on in Calgary?! As a Flyers fan, I look at the organization and sometimes wonder if they know what they're doing? No offence, but Calgary is too good of a hockey city and team to be in the state they're in. I even question if this projected roster is good enough to compete? I hope so, as I have no beef with the Flames. Your draft this past summer was decent, but don't rush Monohan... If he is ready, play him. If not, don't play him for the sake of playing him, it won't help at all. |

Well if you go by the experts and oddsmakers they are the worst team, shoe fits.

I agree with most of this, but people need to realize - the Flames are in the second year of a full rebuild. They moved out their bigger assets and make their club younger...they are looking to continue on this path for another year/two until guys like Baertschi become their next biggest asset, slowly followed by recent draft picks. Its going to take awhile but Feaster and managnment have only really just begun and they spent the last two years working at fixing mistakes left behind by the previous managment group.
Keep in mind...when Feaster took over this club they had guys like Iginla and Kipper nearing the end of their careers and hardly any prospects to speak of. In just two years they have acquired several (and I mean several) young prospects and draft selections to make up for it. Now they must try to compete with what is left and hope their prospects develop to their fullest potentials.
Feaster appears that his goal is to keep tweaking his roster until he gets all the pieces he wants. He's got a ways to go...theres no denying it. |

David Jones is going to be a top 6 winger, maybe put on the third line.
I don't see Monohan making the team this year. Calgary is probably better off letting him have another year of junior.
Horak isn't a 4th line type centre, but Blair Jones is. |
