"One team should immediately jump out at you, and that's the Anaheim Ducks. They're winning a ton of games, but they're really not playing well in a lot of them...The team's just winning a lot of games they shouldn't right now."
The phrase "house of cards" comes to mind. |

Another favourable match-up for Hiller with Minnisota playing last night and starting a no namer in net. Id like the Ducks to ride Fasth while he's hot and the 2 points now are big for when this team does fall apart |

The Phoenix to L.A. area is a brutal back-to-back. The league schedule's it under normal 82 game schedule also. Ducks need to take advantage of a hot team playing under difficult circumstances tonight. |

Ducks have the second best goal differential in the league and have beaten every other team in the top eight in the West at least once. Only one home loss in 8 games and we sit 2nd overall in points (tied with Montreal with fewer games played). Nine players with 5 or more goals through 18 games.
There have been some bad games, but there have been some great games as well, with the majority of our wins coming in games that we played hard enough to get the victory. Our special teams haven't been world class but they are improving as the season goes along, while our five on five play has been absolutely dominant at times.
I don't see how someone could justify saying we're not playing well overall this season. Maybe not a powerhouse, but certainly not a 'house of cards' There is quality goaltending, solid defense, and balanced scoring. What more do you ask of a team in order to say they are deserving of their wins? |

Wow. That reasoning is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen! Say the Kings have a great cycle against the Ducks and hold onto the puck in Anaheim's zone for 2 minutes. Then Koivu steals the puck and feeds Winnick who scores. Then the Kings have another great cycle but Getzlaf steals the puck and feeds Perry for the goal. The Kings are doing phenomenal in that dudes "system" but they're down 2-0 on the scoreboard. Don't know about you but I'll take scoreboard every single time. |

...and that's what's been happening over the start of the season. The point of the article is that the team that dominates puck possession time in the game generally wins the game. There are exceptions, obviously, but over the course of a season, a team can only get lucky so many times, and it tends to regress back towards the average.
Google Team PDO and read the description. PDO is a teams shooting % and their save % added together, and it generally add up to 100%. The reasoning is that a team with a high shooting % gets their chances at the expense of their defense, while a team with a low shooting % doesn't get chances because they are playing strong defense. If a team is winning games with a low PDO, then they are winning despite "underperforming." If a team is winning with a very high PDO, then they are winning because they are "overperforming." The Ducks have the highest PDO in the league right now at over 105%, which means over the rest of the season, it will likely regress back to 100%, at the expense of either their save % or their shooting %. When that happens, their record will start looking much more average. |

Yeah, I get it. I'll still take scoreboard over this system. Plus, I don't know how this system factors in something like a shoot out. The Ducks haven't lost an overtime game this year. |

So their record will more closely resemble the Kings record?
Love Kings fans who come to Ducks articles to basically say "Ducks are lucky" or "Ducks suck". You guys seriously concentrate way to much on another team. Inferiority complex? |

What do you know canuck341, another bad Ducks victory. I'm sure the Wild dominated Anaheim in every statistical category in Yost's system, , though. You got that going for you, which is nice! |

Yep our PDO was 104, so we're terrible. I may have calculated it wrong, but 15 wins in 19 games is clearly a sign of a struggling team.
