Ty Anderson: Savard's Days; Rask injured in Czech League

That was impressive writing. I'm a sabres fan, but I love hockey in general and I certainly recognized Savard's underrated and under appreciated greatness. I hope one day he gets a chance to play again, or at the very least, make a living serving the game he loved.

I wish him all the best! Classy little player with exceptional skill, can't believe Calgary traded him for essentially nothing (Ruslan Zainullin). But that's the way things go in Cow Town over the past twenty years.

I also think it's great they put his name on the Stanley Cup!!!

Great read! The Savard story is tragic. You touched the tender spot. Not about money. Guy who has world class talent misses participating in the most exciting opportunity of his life. I think we all get it, regardless of the teams we support.

Rask thing is more problematic. I thought the Bruins looked vulnerable in the second half of last season. I thought they looked fragile heading into the playoffs. Obviously the Bruins stumbled in the playoffs. This is a team that is seriously trending downwards.

Oh boy. Well I officially an hoping for a shortened season, kicking off with the Winter Classic on the first. Not so much to give Rask time to heal, but I have a hunch that with a shortened season that TT may be ready to give it a go.

In regards to Savard, I'll never forget how pumped up I was on the day he and Chara were signed. Enjoyed watching him play and loved his style. As you stated he played a major role in bringing Bruins hockey back to relevancy. If he never laces them up again (which I expect will be the case) I would love to see him involved in the organization to some capacity, whether it be in the front office or on the coaching staff.

Savard was a great player, but i never liked his attitude much. I hope he makes a comeback. It sucks to have it end like his career may have.

whatever attitude issues he had, and i agree he had some, were entirely absent when he was in boston.

While there's no news on the severity of the issue

Ummmm Rask himself said it wasn't serious at all right after the game. He's scheduled to play on Friday.

This... maybe just a little early. If say we had a season and it ended with similar results I would maybe agree. The B's still have a lot of young talent coming up through the ranks over the next few seasons. If these kids live up to their scouting hype then it will have a postive impact

They also need a (frank)ing power play overhaul.

He'll give it another go, if it doesn't work out, then he should coach the B's PP, with Spooner, Knight, etc. in the wings who's better than Savvy to teach them the intricacies of the PP!

Here's to you 91!

Good blog, always sad to see a player's career shortened due to injury, especially concussions. All the best to Savard, hopefully we see less of these types of stories in the future in all sports.
