cant offer sheet all those guys.. you need to have your own picks to do so - Dozzer
I believe Nashville is only missing their 2nd rounder next year and still have all of their firsts, seconds, and thirds after that. Therefore, if it's next season or going forward that they submit an offer, it won't matter as they have all of their picks |

But it is not like a team could offer limitless offer sheets they would still be limited to an extent but say if Washington didn't have their first but had our first they couldn't offersheet "Weber"even though it would be more beneficial for us Nashville. - maverickJ
personally i think offer sheets should be taken out entirely
i lean more the other way than you do i guess |

Yeah I hope he matches. As much as I would like to see that Flyer team I don't want to play against them 4 times a year. |

yeah i know.. but you cant offer sheet 3 guys in one year type thing
you cant give up your picks for the next ten years just to grab 3 guys now.. you can only use your most immediate picks |

Fair enough, I wouldn't mind seeing them removed either. I was just questioning the logic of it. |

fair enough, but I believe Simmonds and Schenn will expire in different years. Therefore, as along as the offer sheet is below requiring two first rounders, than you should be ok.
like $4.7M - $6.2M is a first, second, and third rounder |

Aside from the financial suicide it would create for Nashville, there's this....
Weber signed to go play somewhere else. He visited 5 different teams the past couple of weeks. Do you really want to pay someone $114 million when he doesn't want t play there any longer??
c'mon gang...... think about it!!

Lol anything is possible, Philly would be screwed for a long time. The question is did Suter really elevate Weber's play that much? It works both ways though, did Weber being so good at putting the puck in the net inflate Suter's numbers?
Or are they both good, but their mutually beneficial relationship caused an inflation both ways? |

thats the thing.. it wont be.. if its low enough not to bump the compensation to 2 firsts at least.. philly would be absolutely stupid not to match it |

thats why i think these long term contracts are (frank)ing ridiculous
the new CBA has to put term limits into the mix
maybe have a franchise player tag who can be signed for longer or doesnt count against the cap type thing |

If every GM thought like this, there would be a lot more offer sheets and no teams would ever match it.
Do you think Tampa would let Stamkos walk because "He wanted to play for another team. He signed an offer sheet."?
You do realize, that Weber KNOWS Nashville can match it, and he could be playing there on a 14 year contract?
If he didnt want to play in Nashville, he would of asked for a trade, not sign an offer sheet that could have him spend the rest of his career in Nashville, if they dont ever trade him. |

As per Forbes magazine......
The Predators are losing money and trying to find investors to pump in about $25 million to shore up the team's finances. In early 2011 the team secured a $75 million credit facility led by Regions Bank to replace the $75 million loan from CIT Group used to finance the purchase of the team. The team has plans to renovate 15-year old Bridgestone Arena by adding a Fan Zone on the upper concourse and upgrading 72 suites. The Predators have a lot of debt and have been in the bottom-third of the league in attendance for six consecutive seasons.

Good signing, reasonable cap hit and two years to prove the type of player he can be. |

Only that Lupul's situation was potentially career ending AND LIFE THREATENING!
Meanwhile, Pacioretty was out a few days later with his supposed "severe concussion" going to movies and sitting in a darkened room and staring brightly lit screen for 3 hours when light sensitivity is a symptom of "severe concussions" ... (If you actually have one)
Pacioretty won that award not because he was deserving, but because of the media sh!t storm that incident generated and the NHL wanted to put a positive spin on a bad situation and hopefully find some closure.
It's a joke and you know it. - As_I_See_It

He went there on his own time. Doesn't mean management talked to him about a contract directly.
Besides, he's an RFA. Apparently he's allowed to talk to other teams. |

Players can do whatever they want I guess. As long as the teams didn't invite him there. Pretty obvious that he showed up with a *wink wink* though. |

I fully agree. If they are going to keep handing out these contracts there needs to be "outs" at certain points, anything to bring it back to sane levels. |
