Anyone else feel like the Hawks are a family where the kids have no idea their parents are morally bankrupt and headed for a messy divorce? Mom is a lazy tramp and their dad has gambled away the house/cars? I feel like the repo man is coming...SOON

Great comparison.

JJ, do you really think that Toews will leave (or wants to leave right now) once he reaches UFA?

-If that happens, the Hawks are completely screwed, and I would probably give up hope.

The fact is that we don't know. Toews could still believe in this team. The Hawks could come out 10-0 and everyone will be drinking the kool-aid again. Professionals are more even keeled than hot/cold, emotional, and passionate fans. He's the Captain here, and undisputably the man here. As long as he is treated as such I don't see him leaving.

And if that happened it'd be a sad day.

Also, I know I'm not JJ

At this point what the Hawks do before September 1 almost doesn't matter. This CBA thing is the real killer...

...I hope they make it a 10 year deal since it feels like yesterday that the last lockout killed a season.

Chicago based teams outside of the Bulls dynasty run always find ways to break your heart. Rocky got his Stanley Cup and now just like his old man is pretty content on being average again for another half century. Yes, I can see Toews leaving in three years. On that wonderful note, it is off to bed and golf at 8 in the morning for this pissed off Hawks fan.

I refuse to believe this. If RW moves in this direction he might as well sell the team, because it's value will drop as mediocrity sets in.

Hey there. I don't think so actually. I've peaked in there a few times, but don't think I have posted anything.

I used to post at HFboards, but some of the incompetence and homer-ism over there made my toe nails curl (that's bad). I had a different name too.

Give up hope? It just ain't that serious yet - compare with the legions of Toronto Maple Leaf fans just hoping to make the playoffs one day and having to observe Brian Burke in action running the team. Their best option is suicide. At least there is talent on the ice here.

It's gotten so bad lately here at hockeybuzz that folks are jumping ahead years to predict the departure of Toews.

I'm sure Seabrook will be included in the discussion soon as well.

The pessimism is actually quite impressive...which is something for ME to say since I admit to being very cynical...some readers may recall me predicting that last years late swoon would result in the Hawks missing the playoffs.

Not quite as it turned out, but the post season was embarrassingly short.

...now let's chat about the CBA and the impending doom for the coming season.

Is it possible Patrick Kane is more likely (than Jonathan Toews) to sign an extension in 3 years?

D on this team is still razor thin. Sure it looks decent on paper now...but can it sustain 1 or GOD FORBID 2 injuries and thrive?

No doubt JJ's piece is a good one, they all are. Although I count the days when his blogs name Rocky 4 to 1 over any other management name ..... Was hoping to see a nice piece coming out of Chicago about how Holmgren and the Flyers ownership refuse to be told no and how they think through every conceivable option. You know a compare and contrast piece between the Flyers organization and the Hawks'. Talk about low hanging fruit to make a point!

How would a guy like Holmgeren have handled the Hawk roster the day after the cup winning goal, and where would they be now?

- Mr Ricochet

This is the type of analysis i would really like to see. Your right this is ultimately Rock's fault and i agree with blackhawks24 that we need a head of hockey operations

That's right.... Stanley gets an A+ for the off season and the hawks are the favorites to come out of the west this season. I almost forgot to put my rose colored glasses on so thank you for the reminder.
