Sorry you are wrong they put in new rules after the kovy contract problem is Bonus money doesn't matter just actual salary
- PhillyFran

it's technically in rules but you can obviously see how it's a lame contract to give out and is exploiting a poopty loophole.

The Kovalchuk rules outline exactly what is acceptable when it comes to frontloading contracts. If this complies with that rule (and the rest of the CBA, obviously), it's not cap circumvention.

Whats with the criminal comments against the flyers? Its not like Gordon Stuckless, john Paul Roby, or george hannah work for them.

Yes it does. If the Predators do what I think they will, then Holmgren will trade players for the picks in return for the Preds NOT matching (Gratton deal), unless of course the Predators match and Holmgren has kept Weber away from the rest of the East.

Holmgren can't trade for Ryan if he is going to trade for Weber. If he doesn't get Weber, he trades for Ryan.

- jonandabby

And also if he does get Weber, watch out for teams, such as the Bruins to step up trade negotiations for Ryan, knowing that Philly is out.

I want the Preds to match because they would take such a crazy hit if they lose Weber, but I don't want to see them with their hands out ina year or two crying that they can't afford to pay their player salaries and need a hand out from other teams...

It's literally a black and white issue, there's no grey area. It doesn't mean everybody has to like it, but it's a clear cut situation.

I think this is just all for nothing, the Preds will match.

On another note I wonder if Ek fainted when he heard this...

no what im saying is i dont get why people are pissed... if the structure is valid then they didnt do anything wrong so you cant be pissed... if the structure isnt valid then it goes back to the way before so you cant be pissed... which is why i assumed everyone is pissed about the fact its an offer sheet which i dont need to restate how i feel about them

if its in the rules its not exploiting anything... especially after the fact taht this type of contract was just looked at... if its in the new rules then good on them for being gutsy and doing it

- big_dion

Big talk from a leafs fan who all think they are smart yet overvalue crap players all the time. Plus would be the first people jumping out of their seat if they made the offer

If there's an other strike, that's 26 mil + the losses incurred during the strike. They could come up owing so much money that the NHL needs to take over the team.

They already have Phx and soon NJD, not sure Bettman wants a 3rd team added.

Yep might as well just have 24 weak teams that act as a farm teams to 6 or so super rich teams that will be competing for the cup

No, they want to beat the Kings. The Kings are the team to beat, the Rags did not win anything.

the hell do you mean it's not exploiting anything? it's a loophole and it's exploiting it. if you don't see how this is a lame contract then you've got blinders on.

a few years ago, a person broke into a woman's home and tried to rape her. she asked him to use a condom so she wouldn't get any STDs or pregnant and he obliged. later, the cops found him and took him to court. the jury found him NOT GUILTY because they say that since she asked him to use a condom, she consented. true story. he exploited a loophole and got away with it but it's obvious he broke the law and raped her.

it's obviously WRONG and fcked up and exploits a loophole but since it's a loophole, they'll get away with it. what philly is doing is RAPING the predators but getting away with it.
