seems like anyone interested in sports games is already committed to paying $60 a pop.

Loyal customers, yes. But this would be a good way to draw in new customers. It also goes a step further in cutting out the middle men in the distribution chain. Don't have to pay for making the disks, don't have to pay for packaging, don't have to pay to ship them, don't have to give a cut to the stores.

They could get away with charging more, I think.... or creating different subscription packages.

Many will buy the game used.. = EA not making one $.

Others will trade in games... not sure how that works for EA... most probably the same as an actual sales.

that is pretty much the future of software I think within a few years there won't really be much physical media to deal with and everything will basically come down to software available on demand. most machines will be nothing more than terminals accessing it.


edit: the one major hurdle will be revenue sharing between the parties (developers, distributors, hardware makers, etc)
