my initial system requirements:

8GB of RAM
1 TB of storage
64 bit OS
128mb vid card

haven't researched the audio cards yet

I'm starting from scratch and that includes the soundcard. I haven't established a budget for the computer yet but obviously I want the best bang for my buck. I don't need the absolute high end of everything but want better quality stuff where it matters most. $1500 to $1800 is my initial goal but I'm not educated on the subject matter and if I can go cheaper I would.

If you go mac, I suggest refurbished and a mac book pro ... pro-tools is kinda difficult on hardware.

Im also upgrading... still debating between mac or PC. might get a mac mini and go with logic pro... but it's not the best option.

If you don't need to move the CPU.. you dont need a laptop.. then I'd say go with a pc.

i7 cores x 8
high end ram.
ssd drives.

Video card = meh...
External sound cards... start by shopping those.. because a decent sound card is not cheap.

Like I said.. you might find some packages for Pro-tools and M-Audio.... I would look into that.

But the more power.. the better it is if you run multiple plugins...

Nvidia GT610 Graphics - no need to have such a good card.. buy you could game !

If you had the budget.. I'd say get the appolos.. every input as got it's own processing unit... so you can make music with a 10 year old CPU and manage to have zero lag... or .. .you get the picture.

It should. Obivion was so good. tbh, I spent about 75 hours in that game and actually never finished the main story. Same with Morrowind. I really only finished Skyrim b/c the outside stuff was a little less engaging in my opinion.
