I live in the murder capital of canada and there is no mall or street that i would be scared to walk down, unless I knew that Somalian gangs hung out in the area, and even then if i don't bother them they won't bother me. It's not like East LA, it's Somalina tribes bringing their tribal rivalaries with them.

That's an unfortunate and sad incident, but a crazy person going on a shooting spree can happen anywhere not much you can do about it.

Maybe metal detectors at mall entrances should be considered, but the guy would had found some other public place to do it.
