Thats where we differ I suppose. I didnt see a *much* better option. Understand that when picking outside of the top 10, most players below that mark begin to have more and more question marks. Does it not make more sense to pick a guy who is considered low risk high reward and get an additional pick in the first 50 guys, rather than picking one selection in the first 50 who alone still comes with risk?

For me, Feaster certainly rolled the dice, it certainly isnt one of those things we can surely say it was good, or bad at this point. But the Flames played the odds and by adding an extra selection they increased their chances of selecting more talent. Jankowski would have been taken if not by Feaster by the 14th pick...he may have gone a little later by Feasters next pick wasnt till much later and he would have been gone. He wanted him, and he got him. He also got a big hitting defenseman out of it.

Give it two years, and we will see how smart this was. Heck, we may even see some promise next year!

I guess so. Too me I would have liked to see Ceci in a Flames Jersey. Him and Reinhart would make a solid pairing down the road.

IF Jankowski pans out, his style of play, almost fits perfectly with Bartschi, which will make both better. Throw a power forward on that line and it could be a great top line for you guys

Also, keep in mind...depending on what Feaster plans on doing, or what he *can* do this year....if (for arguments sake) Calgary moves one or two of Iginla, Kipper, Bouwmeester, Tanguay....they could get some solid return and fast track a rebuild.

Feaster was just quoted by ESPN saying he wont tear this team down and wont be going into rebuild mode. So, I dont anticipate anything like that happening, however I can see atleast one maybe two of those guys being moved for upgrades down the middle.

Next question will be, who is ready to play behind Kipper, as Mikka has played about 90% of the games for the past 5-6 years and hasnt given much time to his "apprentices".

Ya the backup position is probably going to be filled by Irving (whether he is ready or not) because the Calgary Tower isn't going to get the job done.

Next season it will be interesting. Ramo will be coming over from Russia and Broissoit will be coming out of Junior. Are the Flames paving the way for Kipper's exit?

I would think the Flames would be more interested in Colborne....I would also guess that 2nd might need to be a 1st. I doubt the Flames would want a goalie prospect in return as they are already pretty stocked up.

That might be a fairly high asking price. But at the TDL I would think you could at least get a 1st rounder and a great prospect for Kipper (who has a short contract a great AAV)

Haha.....it's really close...I think Colborne is someone who the Flames would really put high value on. Young, big, strong, skilled center, this is the largest deficiency in the entire organization.

Also, I project the Toronto first round pick to be in the top 10 again next year, with an outside shot at winning the lottery. Could be huge for the Flames.

Percy is another solid d prospect, someone who could end up playing some decent minutes on the 2nd pairing or so.

Komisarek.....well, the Flames might have to take someone on like him. I'm not sure they would take a guy like that in a dump, but it's not the END of the world, especially considering the Flames would still be gaining cap space by moving Kipper out.

I think we'd see Van type riots if trading with the Leafs was EVER considered again... Even if it made sense...

Correct, he is still a prospect though. Obviously there is risk he may not turn out the way people think he might, but you could say that about any prospect in the league.

As far as cracking the Leafs lineup is concerned, that may be more about them letting him develop properly and less about not being good enough. I mean, Baertschi could have played on the Flames last year but he didn't.

The Leafs are as desperate for solid centermen as Calgary....Colborne has been struggling to make the jump and only had a few good weeks with the Marlies. He got injured and struggled a bit, but has been good overall.

Dont see them making any moves, personally.

IF (big if) the Flames were to trade Kipper to T.O. What do you believe would be coming the other way??

I think Kipper would be a good option for the Leafs, short term deal. The problem is, Burke is at point where he seems as though hes only willing to make deals if they're really good for the Leafs.

I just dont see a deal being done between the two, because they both need centermen...
