This is a re-post because people seem to be ignoring this part of my last post. I am curious to know what people think when this is brought up.
Also, with this whole "then vs now" thing, why has nobody mentioned Selanne? He's 41, he played in the 90's with Gretzky, isn't THAT big (6 foot 200lbs), and still put up 66 points last season. |

Brodeur.
In terms of #'s it's not even a question. I know people sue the "devil's defense" argument, but they haven't had the best defense for his entire career. He made some pretty acrobatic saves over the years (even in this past years playoffs). So while he's a butterfly icon he still has some athleticism and knows how to use it when he needs too. - Domaju
again, i agree, Brodeur for many reasons, but Roy is right behind him. |

I never found Messier exciting. For me, Lafleur was the most exciting player I ever watched live. |

I would pick Brodeur too, frankly because he's my favourite goalie dating back to when i was like 8 years old, but also having almost every single goalie record doesnt lie either. |

teemu burried what, 76 goals a rookie.
thats when he played in the gretzky era.
if u see another player come in as arookie and score 76 goals, we have gone back to the 80's.
thats what i mean by dif style of hockey. that will never happen again, ever. |

i actually really didn't know that. - celata29
That's because it isn't true.
He had an argument with his wife. He went ballistic, and slammed a door, breaking the frame.
His wife called 911 and then hung up. So police had to show up.
Yes, he was arrested. They later dismissed all charges. |

Great measuring stick. Argument in favor of Gretzky and Lemieux being timeless and still being able to dominate in todays NHL |

Id take Roy way over Marty.
Marty is overatted.... put up great team stats.
Amazing longevity.
Not the best ever.
