Not a bad idea, but really Bob and Bernier probably isn't the answer at this point. Then again I don't know that CBJ really plans on making the playoffs in the next 10 years.

Also known as the political right, which is in abundance in the entire province of Alberta. These people would happily give corporations a $450 million tax cut because they say it will stimulate the economy. When in reality that tax cut just helps the ultra rich go to the tropics with the whole family a few extra times a year. That $450 million pumped into infrastructure development would, as you said above, stimulate the economy and provide the local municipality, and provincial and federal government increased tax revenues. Sadly though, our leftist ideologies have no place in Alberta, and that reality will delay the building of an arena for the Oilers for a few more years than it should. Thus driving the price up by a couple hundred million or so. - marty11
You seriously believe a leftist government, notorious for catering to the vocal minority, would have new arena built quicker? Jeez man, don't buy into ideological divides. Its all bullpoop. They all want a piece of us, they just dress up in different clothes and promise you that they only want a finger, but in reality they've already taken your hand. Every party that has ever formed a government in this country has proven this without exception. Don't buy into their crap.

At no point did I ever say that a leftist government would build the rink faster. All I said was that the apprehension of the political right would stall the development of said arena until it costs a lot more than it would now. Council should just grow a set of balls, and tell people the benefits of building the rink far out way the downsides and then go ahead and build the (frank)ing thing. Instead they see expenditure of public funds on an infrastructure development as a way for them to lose their job, when it should be viewed as a way to create jobs. Would the left be guarded in their approach. sure, but the left ideology is more aligned with this sort of political decision, and they would be more comfortable with it.
