anyway point is, from what i've read, that no one company can own 3 English radio stations in any city in Canada. Bell recently acquired Astral Media, which owns CHOM, Virgin and some other station, maybe Q92 or some poop. they petitioned the CRTC to waive the rule and keep TSN990 going, but they were rejected. this is not something Bell wants to do. the whole idea of TSN radio is streamlining content. for RDS they're going to need 24 hours of original content per day. maybe their advertising revenues will go up, but it will cost much, much more to run the station, i think.

the truth of the matter is, we lost the expos and we survived. we lose tsn 990 and we will survive. most of the personalities on the station are bullpoop anyways. starr is a bozo. marinaro is a pompous never-was who actually believes he's an insider. tieman is a nice guy but he's brutal. ted bird... , connor mckenna? the station has not spawned any real talent. melnick is the only sports radio host i've enjoyed listening to since way, way back in the day but he has become less interesting as the years have gone by. what that station had going for it was their guests. so at the end of the day, yes, there will be a void in english sports radio but hey, there's always satellite radio to soothe the soul on the drive home. and besides, because of tsn 990, the canadiens had their worst season in decades. they were just plain bad luck. now that cjad will regain the broadcast, habs will once again be a perennial playoff team. book it!!

And the only plan they have right now is selling the team to a guy that doesn't have the money to buy it at an incredibly low price while knowing he will lose money in at the very least the next couple of years after buying the franchise.
