(frank), he will be over 300pounds of pure muscle come training camp. He will be able to to carry a lot of ammo.

Meh, we'd all be pretty happy if Eller was training with Chris Chelios.

People who are expecting a complete team overhaul will be disappointed. It's not something that will happen overnight.

Also, this year's poor UFA talent pool isn't helping.

- stinger67

i think the realists recognize that, 1) there is some legitimate talent in the organization and that winning now isn't as important as developing that young talent and 2) keeping the present core talent at the nhl level intact is imperative. once the 2 converge, and by then, the burdensome contracts will be off the books, bergevin will be in a position to bring in the hired guns needed to compliment the group and have a winning run for several years.

in other words, the next year or 2 may be painful. but as long as there is a plan, it'll be easier to swallow.

I'm all for that, don't go Gainey 2009 on us, doesn't mean you can't bring in good players to patch the line-up up until the young guns are ready, we DON't have to finish in the ceiling to rebuild properly

the people who will be most disappointed are the ones expecting another top-5 pick the next year or two. won't happen. this is a 7-8-9-10 team as constructed. only way they finish that low again is if injuries are even worse this year, which is unlikely.

Gainey went that way because we had like 6 players under contract and virtually no NHL-ready prospects.

I am really curious to see this team perform on the ice, the D is still the main issue IMO. I could see them squeezing in the playoffs if they stay healthy.

You know I want another top 10 pick, they are still thin up front for quality prospect.

hey, a markov here, a gionta or cole there, price for a stretch?......you never know. this team has shown it is fragile so injuries are a distinct probability.

and besides, a top 10 pick in a deep draft is as good as a #5 in a weak one like last month.
