Normal for a young kid early in his career.

Couldnt disagree more about his work ethic.

- jak521

It's been well documented how JVR works outs and trains during the off season to get ready. Anything negative said about his work ethic is unfounded.

Id almost prefer Semin to Doan.. I love Doan, but at 35 and what he is gonna get its gonna be crazy.

Semin seems like he is just kinda floatin around.. i could see 30+ goals, and 40 assists on a line with G and Hartsy.

If it were based off of pure skill.. he was right there with Parise... even his point totals are a bit higher than Parise's

Giroux and semin together would be interesting. That's two line mates for giroux that can snap wicked wristed one timers. I know semin is labeled as lazy. But the caps were not giving up goals late in the year and playoffs. Is he capable in his own end? Can't be much worse than jagr right?

Semin's image from the past is hurting his value. When you take games off people are going to question you. Sometimes a change of scenery can be good for a player.

Can you add to the poll some options that are (slightly) less than what he makes now?

Homer is in a good situation. He can talk (genuinely) about how he wants to sign Hartnell long term, but wait until after the CBA to take action. Who knows where that stuff is going?

I agree. In fact, I am hesitant to throw out any ideas regarding contracts after this offseason simply because of the uncertainty of the CBA.

I think a lot is being made about the uncertainty of the CBA. The teams owners and management are aware of what the League wants to accomplish in the new CBA. It didn't seem to affect teams being willing to throw major cash around in Free Agent offers to players.

If there were rumors of drastic changes Im sure some stuff would be different, but teams arent gonna not try to improve or make key moves because of the CBA.

Of course they aren't. But my point is that I don't think the Flyers or any other team should conduct business differently because of the upcoming CBA negotiations. It shouldn't stop the Flyers from proceeding with trying to re-sign players such as Hartnell.

The Flyers should seriously consider adding Semin. I would be willing to go three years max on him. He instantly upgrades their team.

I'm not saying don't try to resign him, I'm saying that it's hard to predict what kind of contract he could sign in 2013 because the CBA could change things. The NHL can't be happy with all of these 10+ year deals going around. What will the league look like 5-7 years from now?

Luke Schenn with his experience level really has a chance to be a 20 + night d-man I believe in the Vladimir Konstantinov mold. For the more seasoned fans, that name can bring back a lot of memories. Vlad was a very physical d-man who controlled the game with his hitting and toughness more so then his offensive game. He was a great d-man for the Red Wings.

For all this talk about how Schenn was scratched last year on a bad Leafs team. Chris Pronger was drafted #2 overall by Hartford and played poor enough to be traded to the Blues for Brendan Shanahan. While with Blues, Mike Keenan between periods would berate Pronger by showing him video of what he did wrong on the ice. I think we may want to give Luke a little bit of a chance is all I'm saying.

I said this earlier.. I like Schenn as a player.. and hell he could go on to be the greatest d-man to ever play the game for all I know.. I just think the Flyers should have gotten more as of right now.

Hartnell isn't a candidate for a 10 year deal in my opinion. He's looking at more like a 5 year deal.

Yea... especially because he isnt a franchise type player.. he wont see a long term (7+ year) deal. Also power forwards tend to fade right around 35...

If there is one new rule in the next CBA that I would liek to see added.. it would be limiting 8+year deals.. Limit it to one player per team.

I completely agree. I'm just saying that the CBA is subject to change enough that it could effect contracts as we know them.

Give him a chance?? I agree, but it is a funny statement considering he hasn't played a game for us yet.

Some others on here feel that we may be light on offensive defensement. If true, that should be addressed. In any case, we should worry about his strengths and let management worry about complementing him with the right players.

I think the Ravishing one nailed it and we should expect strong, physical play. Even if you get beat on a rush from time to time, you have to consider how the physical play can have an impact and then to what degree.

So the general consensus is that we're all waiting around for the Phoenix Coyotes to be told their team's future is still unstable so that Doan will come to the Flyers for a few years? Well, I guess it's a reasonable way to spend a Monday.

Just looking at the board it seems like late June into July is a popular time to join.
