Cliff Lee will be the only one of those 3 that will actually get a decent return. You'd be lucky to get a B prospect for Polly and Vic.
- NickTheKid87

Victorino has value around the league. Not sure if he lands a big time prospect but you get what you can and clear some money.

Let's say 2-4 years $5-5.5 million per year.
- NickTheKid87

Would love to sign Semin, but I don't think it's wise to go more than 2 years with him.

trade Lee and Hamels...the baby aces are not babies anymore
- vejim

I'd only trade Hamels for a King's ransom which is basically what the Phils are asking for. If we could get a guy like Will Middlebrooks plus another A prospect or 2 than I'd move Hamels.

2 for $5.5 million I'd do. I'd expect him to flirt with or surpass a point per game playing with Giroux. Probably 40-40-80.

Thats whats so tempting having Semin on this team. He and Giroux could light it up together and the Flyers dont loss any assets in getting him.

He's a player that drives the play into the opponent's zone. Would be amazing on a line with Giroux and Hartnell.

He could hit 30 HRs in the 2nd half of the season, and they still wouldn't find a taker for that contract.

They might be able to trade him to the Panthers to get to the cap floor.

I think Anaheim would want at least one NHL caliber player. I know they are asking for a no. 2 center which the Flyers have in Briere but his contract is so big that that's counter productive for the Ducks.

I disagree. Don't get me wrong, I love Hamels. But we're out of contention at this stage and RAJ would be wise to deal him and attempt to re-sign him in the off-season. In fact, Hamels stated over the weekend he would be open to such an idea.

The Rangers won't give us a king's ransom, but a package that included both 3B Mike Olt and CF Leonys Martin plus a few other pieces would be a trade worth making IMO. Profar would be untouchable, so don't go there.

Why would Semin sign for less years?

Still think he goes to the KHL if rumored $30 mill offer is true.

Schenn is 22 and has played a top 4 role in the NHL already. Schenn is as much of a to 4 defenseman as JVR is a top 6 forward now.
- MJL

I beg to differ. He was pushed to play bigger minutes a few years back, but was avg only about 16 minutes a night last year for one of the worst teams in the EC. Bill put out a good break down of JvR second half through first half of this season. 78 games, 27 goals, 26 assists (something like that).. Thats a pretty solid top young top 6 forward. He battled injuries last year, but he was only a pretty routine curve for a bigger forward.

He better sign that KHL deal b/c no NHL team is going to sign him for a long-term commitment. He only has himself to blame for that.

He wants to stay in the NHL. I don't think any team is going to sign him for more than 3 years at this point.

Saw a stat (not that +- is really all that telling but anywho) that over the past 4 years Semin was #4 overall in +-.

Also have read several Caps fans opinions and have heard countless times how well he played for Hunter.

He's an excellent all-around player. If his name was Cam Johnston, he'd be signing an 8 year, $60 million contract.
