I'd be cool with 2 years, that way he's off the books when G, Coots and Schenn hit FA
- Jsaquella

Agreed. I would be willing to up the money if its for two years say at 5.75M per year.

well by hockeybuzz logic he'd be playing with Giroux so he'd get 80 goals a season
- JoeRussomanno

I think some guys would see a big increase. I think Nash, for instance, could score 45-50 with Giroux. He's putting up 30 every year with Brassard, Prospal and Bill from accounting as his center.

But Semin and Ryan have been playing with very good playmakers and very good linemates. I could see Ryan hitting 40+, and even Semin getting to 40 with Giroux, but I don't see Ryan coming in and scoring 50.

I'd like to land Ryan, but under specifc parameters(you mentioned one earlier, no top 5 DMan).

1. No top 2 line players and no Couturier
2. No top 5 DMen
3. No 1st rd picks
4. Protected prospect list.

I'd go from there. If you can get it done fine, if not that's Ok too.
Probably not enough, but I'd be fine with that

I'm in agreement and nothing he hasn't shown capability of before he might play with Clode.

Semin's (apparently) a locker room cancer, from what the Caps say, not worth the risk

Nah. Just make sure you have good AV software, run CCleaner and Spybot S&D immediately after the porn, then do a full virus scan.

I think the Caps locker room in general is a cancer starting with Ovechkin.

Bobby Ryan just publicly ripped his GM. He has a rep as a sometimes lazy defensive player, who could work harder. He didn;t get along with a coach that led his team to a Stanley Cup championship.

I think if Semin's name was Dave Smith he'd have signed a 6 year, $42mm deal by now.

I wouldn't consider a 20+ goal scorer with a low salary garbage. Flyers also have some nice prospects and can afford to deal some picks.

oh no doubt. Just some of these guys make it seem like Giroux's gonna astronomically increase his numbers. I'd hate for a kid like Ryan come in here in front of the home-crowd and put up 28 and have everyone ripping his head off. HE's playing with a good line already I don't see his numbers increasing that much it probably be like 6 goals at the most 10. Either way I could see Semin or Ryan coming in and putting up 35 like you said. Also it's not something either guy hasn't done already. As for Nash, that cap hit is just grotesque in my book. One hit and a guy's season can be over, and Nash plays a less than nice style.

40 would be a reachable goal for any of those guys, especially with the run & gun system that always help production

People would have been OK with Parise's cap hit. The issue with Nash is, the assets traded plus the cap hit.

Yeah, Read only had 7 less goals than Ryan. I'm OK with walking away from Ryan if they don't like what I'd offer.

The Caps already played a run and gun system for most of Semin's time there. Anaheim is more defnsive, but they're hardly Phoenix in terms of defense first

good line, with a 40 year old Koivu?

his cap hit is in line, pretty close now, after the "Wild UFA adventure" boosting the market

What was your current offer again? Not being picky just might of misunderstood what you were saying, sorry!
