At what point does a guy stop having potential and starting being what he is?

Bobby Ryan is going to be 26...

- jak521

Well, he has 4 30+ goal seasons under his belt. Voracek hasn't even come to close to touching that.

Second off, he's yet to receive consistent 1st unit PP time.

Giroux is also > Getzlaf

I'd say he'd be an instant hit here, although that's obviously not a sure thing.

That would depend on how Read does then.

Moving forward, I'd definitely take Ryan over Voracek, although I'm a big fan of the latter's. The problem is what Anaheim would want on top of Jake.

- LordStanley88

That's the thing. Voracek is a talented player, who could be a good producer in the league. Read has a 20 goal season on his resume, plays on the PK and can play the PP, has good speed and can play wing or center.

I wouldn't trade Voracek and more than a pick or middle of the road prospect for Rayn-and I like Ryan.

Sure, but if this guy was such a great and impact player, then why are McPhee and the Caps not pushing to keep this guy?
- LordStanley88

Here is the biggest knock on Semin.. If he played the way he is capable of all the time.. hed be a top 5-10 player in the league. He coasts too much, and doesnt give it his all.

But at the end of the day he is still damn near a ppg player.

I'd do Jake, MAB, Cousins/Laughton, and a pick. No more than that.

Voracek is at the age where Ryan started to do that, they're not the same age.

Ryan could also potentially fall in love with crack cocaine and end up with a severe case of Hep C.

keep him away from Camden

Agreed. He's the new Kovalev.

But clubs certainly don't seem to be lining up to get this guy on their roster, hence my point. Meanwhile, I think Ryan would be a much more sought after player if he were on the market.

I think you're delusional if you think Jake ever pots 40.

Based solely on last year, sure, but Getzlaff is a damned good player....who owns a higher PPG average in his career than Giroux does. Ryan isn't playing with stiffs. He's playing with an outstanding winger in Perry and a cenetr in Getzlaff that has put up near elite numbers when healthy.

Again, I agree. Getzlaf is an awesome player and one of the best pure playmaking centers in the league, no doubt about it.

However, Giroux has better vision and is the better player at this point in time IMO.

I wouldn't even do that. Voracek and a 2nd. Ducks say no, oh (frank)ing well. When he's a UFA in 3 years I'm sure he'll be happy to jump to the Flyers without us having to trade for him.

Would you like to wager?

Obviously anything is possible, but I'm pretty confident on this one.

I'd push a little harder than that to acquire Ryan, but that's just my opinion.

He is, but the point is, Getzlaff and Perry together are probably equal to, or better than Giroux and Hartnell in terms of linemates.

I like Ryan, but I'm not trading a ton to land him.

I made an educated guess/projection that you somehow took as a fact.

You figure it out.

I don't think what I proposed is a ton.

However, by the same token I think Read AND Jake is too much. No deal there.

I wouldn't include Laughton on top of Voracek & MAB. I'd be fine with those two alone.

My first preference is to sign Doan as a FA, if at all possible. My second preference is to stand pat and see what the kids can do or if the prices drop.
