He's an excellent all-around player. If his name was Cam Johnston, he'd be signing an 8 year, $60 million contract. - bradleyc4

Are you calling the NHL racialist? |

the Phils are in a similar situation as the flyers were....they should have a top 5 draft pick and trade Hamels, Lee and Victorino for major league prospects...waalaa - vejim
he's a 28 year old ace.... do anything you can to bring him back. get rid of anyone else on the roster, he's the most important asset they have
you only consider it if he flat out will not sign here, imo |

Is it fair to say that the Russian stigma is becoming a problem in the NHL? |

I like Schenn as a player.. but we traded a top six forward NOW, for a bottom pairing d-man with upside NOW. Like someone else said, neither have played a game for their new team, but I still think we didnt get enough. - jak521

The Flyers should have serious interest in Semin. Thats my opinion of course. If they could sign him 2 years at 5.5M you do it. The Flyers cant afford to trade any assests at this point which makes Ryan and Nash not realistic imo.
Obviously go after Doan first but thats a long shot as well. |

I'm all for keeping Hamels but signing another player to a long-term $25M a year contract just doesnt seem like the right move. They have to move other players first. If they cant do that then you trade Hamels for a boat load of prospects. |

When they were traded? Giroux had already surpassed them. |

I think Semin would be fine playing here in Philly. Hartnell, Giroux and Semin is a very good first line. |

He would get killed here because he can take nights off.. and shift to shift can be two totally different people, but when he plays his best he is one of the best in the league. He is a true sniper. Most of the time he plays at his B level and is still a very good player. Big guy too (which was surprising to me) listed at 6'2 210 |

Giroux is around his age and is not invisible....for a guy his size and supposed talent level he doesnt play it.
With work ethic i mean that
1. He is not willing to take the pain and go to the net as most guys his size should.
2. Not physical enough.
3. Most games he is invisible.
4. Good forbid he breaks a nail while trying to get garbage goals.
Not:
1. He doesnt train in the offseason
2. He doesnt practice hard. |

Don't need him to get the garbage goals. That's Hartsy's job. He'd easily score 35-40 goals in an offensive system like he did before they started to play a more defensive style in Washington. He could hit 45 with Giroux if he can stay healthy.

I think a lot has to do with the environment, locker room setting, and coaching. In Washington the players pretty much did whatever they wanted until Hunter took over. Semin is going to have bad nights that happens to most players but if hes playing hard I dont think people will get on him.
He makes the most sense to me after Doan (which I think is a 5% chance he comes here) to go after Semin. |
