So what you're implying is you're confident Snow is going to get a top six forward?

No doubt in my mind that Jason arnott becomes an islander
- Isles316

Jason Arnott for a year might not be so bad...17 goals 17 assists last year...at least we wouldn't have to rush Strome like they did Nino...

i agree they have until the deadline
- NYI78

I would trade Bailey now (and see what you can get for him) since he is on the final year of his contract. He'll probably leave anyway if he has a good year. I don't think he is considered a core player like JT, Okposo, Neilsen,Grabner since they all signed long term deals....

put KO on his wing & maybe Jason can teach him how to use his body, how to bang & crash.

That is an exceptional idea... what exactly do you think we can get for a guy who's value is so low to every team in the league but us?? Chara? Towes? Maybe Crosby??

I was thinking Chicago...they seem to like him. Bailey and a defensive prospect (not named deHaan) for Stalberg (probably won't get him) or Bickell (big body and can score some)...

With Arnott, you're top 9 would be:

Moulson-Tavares-(Boyes or Okposo)
Bailey-Arnott-(Boyes or Okposo)
Ullstrom-Neilsen-Grabner

Not great, not bad...doubt a playoff team...but all their assets will still be in place...plus a better defense...

Another guy who might be available is Tyler Bozak from Toronto...looks like Toronto has a glut of centermen...he has one year left on his deal $1.5 million...last year he had 18-29-47...trade a defensive prospect and a pick...we have a "million" of them now...

For your non-negative reading pleasure, Pronman has the Isles ranked #2 in the league in terms of prospect depth.

I could save you the time of clicking, unless you want to read the rest...

2. New York Islanders: The Islanders have one the deepest systems in the NHL. They have great talent as well, of course, with top forward prospects like Ryan Strome, Brock Nelson, and Kirill Kabanov to go along with a very impressive group of defense prospects. They have talent and depth at seemingly every position.

Just to play devils advocate, why trade anything for one more goal and the exact same point total as Nielsen had centering the second line last year?

Lots of shifting arguments since I last tuned in here. The "Garth's not done" crowd (I count myself among them) seems to be moving to damage control with the qualifier, "Even if he is done, that might not be so bad," to which I'd have to disagree. The July 1 signings and the Visnovsky trade were a good start to the offseason, but only if it's the start, not The Plan. There was near universal agreement with that even on July 1 after the signings. I hope that just days later we're not resigning ourselves to the "not horrible" bargain bin options again, and unloading on other fans for not doing cartwheels over that.

I don't see why some brief inaction and rumors of the team being done should change our opinions at all. I feel the same now as I did...and as just about everyone here did...on July 2. I'm happy with all the moves so far except for signing Bois, and I fully expect that our GM recognizes that more needs to be done, and that he will do so before the season starts. After seeing some of the money thrown around, I'm perfectly fine with being patient. Maybe there will be better deals to be made later on when the dust settles a bit. But clearly there needs to be more...either up front in the form of either a center, some scoring, or some size, and back on D in the form of a big body.

Since you are a walking dictionary please give me the definition of prospect and how it is relevant to my team called the New York Islanders in the NHL???
