Carle to the Lightning 6 for 33
- Vukota

Would have been a very nice pickup. Never thought it would happen. I have to say it was nice to see a team like the Wild get Parise and Suter and not a team like the Rangers or Philly. Maybe there will be hope for the Isles one day?

who wouldn't you give for him (aside from Tavares)?
- Mr.Black

What it would take to get him... Strome, deHaan, etc... Trading away 3 or more key prospects is just not a price we can afford.

I thought the Isles had the propects to make a deal like this now? Nelson steps in for Strome and Donovan for Dehaan besides we just used an entire draft on dmen. How many more years in the lottery do we need to make an impact trade?

As they say in baseball, the players you mentioned are prospects...that's all they are. It doesn't mean they are all going to make the NHL and be stars. Look at Nino, he has bust written all over him. How can you play 5 minutes a night be a -27...that is pretty hard to do. I bet Nelson and Kabonov will have a better year at Bridgeport and will pass him on the depth chart. I think it will be hard to get Ryan now anyway...too many other teams are in the mix. The way the team looks right now, they are looking a top 5 draft pick.

Isles can't afford another lottery either. When is this team going to be good? When they are in Quebec ?

X has nothing to worry about. Isles are not getting Ryan. Team like Philly, Pens, and Rangers are not going to sit back and let the Wild be the only team to make a big splash.

I'm sorry to say Isles can afford another lottery. Wang has shown no signs he cares about the Fans. Wang will have no problem having another lottery team. Same goes for Snow as Snow has no pressure to win.

But now you want to trade guys who are ready to step in this year & next year, for players that are ready to step in the next year & the year after that. Why must we be the Expos of Hockey.. draft, develop & let some other team reep the benefits when the player is ready to pay off??

What is everyone's hard on for an "impact trade"???

Stay the damn course!!

They could get Ryan & still be a lottery team... he's no franchise changer

But he could be. He could be the piece that pushes this team to the playoffs for the first time in six years. We need some more scoring depth. Consistency is what we need. Not okposo or bailey.

This is what the kool aide drinkers don't understand. Them signing Carkner and Boyes is not going to keep the knowledgable fans happy. The people that believe in this BS will continue too. That's just the way it is.

When would you say we can afford too? How many prospects do we need before we can make a trade for an impact player? How many more years should we be in the top five before we can trade a freaking prospect? Serious question(s).

Don't worry, we are the smart ones for not doing anything. It's worked well so far. Stay the course... We made some big moves this off season.

1.When the price for said player isnt an over payment in the other teams favor

2.We can make a trade for one now. No one said we couldnt.

3.See above

so how is it that the Isles are still the joke of the league with dp's contract yet crosby has 12 years and now suter and parise have 13? Not to mention Luongo, Carter and a host of others.

Wang gets laughed at a ton but he's the first to come up with the long term deal and now it's a heavily used tool.

I hope so much that the cap goes down as a result of the cba negotiations and the 5 teams at the top of the league in salary all have to scramble to unload some dollars.

*** and don't tell me crosby is worth the 12 year deal because of who he is, that guy is done for his career if someone rings his doorbell let alone hits him on the ice.

- Isles_since_6

I was thinking same exact thing. Everyone laughed at dp contract but let's see if Crosby or Parise get hurt. Then what will people say

If they get hurt or their play diminishes to DP's level of play their respected franchises would not continue to push them on to the ice or allow them to play. Or I'll do you one better. Put them on the bench when they are not even capable of taking a shift. Uh hmmm....

Oh I no there is not a chance of any of this happening. Well aware that this team is way too smart to ever trade for a crappy player like Bobby Ryan. Snow is way too good of a GM.

Glad it's not the Islanders' money. Just because someone IS a UFA doesn't mean they are worth a fortune.
