Fluery was front-loaded enough for all. In those days Holik got his five year, forty five million retirement to get outworked by Kvasha.

Now the AHL needs a salary cap between Avery, Redden and whoever else.

Gervais a Flyer....
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Between Zach and Ryan heading out west rather than division rivals and Bruno coming to Philly...things got better for the Isles without making a single roster move today!

right....so who is considered the laughingstock of the nhl??? islanders or rangers?
- LetsGoIsles

Looking at the franchises as a whole...stat wise... the isles have had the same amount of cups as the rags in about half of the existence (not to mention 4 in a row). Also, the rangers had chances to win the cup when there were only 6 teams in the league. Look at a team like montreal who has won 26. But the reality is...we are not a big market team, have a horrendous building and owner. No big time free agents will sign here. We are not located in manhattan, but the highest taxed county in the country. The Isles havent won a playoff series since I was 7, and cant even make the playoffs now. The Rags made it to the ECF last season. Sadly the isles are a big laughing stock, in every sports fans eyes. Looking at the big picture the Rags should be a bigger laughing stock, but they are no where close to as bad of shape as the isles organization is.

what was your perception-- yes or no? good or bad?
- LetsGoIsles

You expect me to tell you my perception if someone is happy by watching them play hockey for two hours? All I remember is he called Newsday from Minnesota on his way here.

Here's the video of his first press conference:
http://video.islanders.nh...5&cmpid=embed-share-video

Here's the video of his final press conference here where he talks about DiPietro being a goalie who can lead a team to a championship and how Bossy, Trottier called him.

http://video.islanders.nh...8&cmpid=embed-share-video

Seemed happy enough to me.

No offense but who gives a shat? If he loved it so much here he would have stayed. He was offered more money to do so after all. I liked him and honestlt wasn't aware of just what kind of player he was at the time but the guy is a big cry baby.

The best is when they post links of interviews, like they are going to say anything negative in a press conference

let me get this straight...you cant make a decision after watching a guy play hockey for 2 hours a game (46 hours including 5 playoff games) (even though all games are televised for 2.5 hours) but you can make a decision based on a 13 minute press conference where he is paid to professionally blow smoke up your ass??? ok

I know, what is he going to say? "I (frank)ing hate the Isles, what a craptastic team. I'm going none the less to that circus of a franchise and I'll pay my dues." To give Smyth credit(even though he's a cry baby)he reported and played quite well. I wonder if he would have cryed if the team was detroit? What do you think Vukota?

No big time free agents sign in Montreal or Toronto either for the same reason they don't sign here. We are not located in Manhattan? Neither are the New Jersey Giants and Jets.

What's next the Knicks have been better than last decade and are not a laughingstock or the Nets who have had two relevant years since the ABA and had less attendance than the Isles last year?

Isles sure were a big market team during the 2002 playoffs, the backpages in the city were giving it top billing. They sure were a big market team before the 200m dollar baseball era.

Tears of joy maybe. You could tell he wanted no part of the Islanders even after he got here, which is his choice and that's cool. At least he didn't pull a Muller and played hard for the 10 minutes he was here

Exactly, he came here and played. Kept his mouth shut and played to be more specific. He handled his signing in Colarodo with dignity afterwards as well being complimentary of the Islanders. ANYONE who is numb enough to believe that he liked it here and those compliments were anything more than niceties should be euthanized.

No, he saved that until last summer when he outright demanded a trade from the Kings back to Edmonton:

And of course if he really loved Colorado?

"Obviously I'm disappointed leaving the Avalanche in the fact Denver is a great city and the team has a winning tradition and great people and great fans," Smyth told ESPN.com Friday night. "But at the same time, I'm really excited about the transition to Los Angeles. You're talking about a really good, young team. Stacy [my wife] and I as a family we're really excited about going down there."

Smyth had the choice to void the deal but after some deliberation Friday he decided it was the right move.

"They gave us some time to think about it and after doing that we decided it was the right transition at this point," Smyth said.
