smyth coming to the islanders was an embarrassment - everyone knew he was gone the second he came to the island and it was NOT a positive acquisition from a PR standpoint.

my scenario is if bobby ryan comes to the island dragging his feet, plays out his contract, and leaves for another team ala ryan smyth...that would be bad PR-wise

the players you gave as examples were more than happy originally playing with the devils/pens.

Smyth got a front-loaded contract from Colorado (slightly less money than the Isles) and it turned out he needed it because it was the only way Colorado could get rid of him, then Los Angeles. Did you read that article because every player (besides Hannan) got big front-loaded money and changed teams also.

Todd Bertuzzi still get's booed at the Coliseum, I see no connection to him crying about specifically come here.

How do u know what the situation is in 3 years. I would tend to agree with u if he was signed for 1 year.. maybe even 2.. he is signed for 3 years. By the end of his contract whether we are happy or not the Arena situation will be over with.. u have no idea what will happen in 3 years.
