Totally agree, but the problem is we think some of our players are good enough to succeed, but they are not,
I do understand the fact the we want our home-grown kids to do well, but fact is they are not!!!! Snow an others are over-evaluating what we have,
Frans will never be better than a 3rd line Center
Okoposo will not live up to the potential of a power forward
Grabner has no shot and no breakaway moves, if not for his speed, he done in the NHL
but then again, some think they will pan-out, geez, all 3 of them could go,
And people who are on Strome's bandwagon, the kid who has so much talent, COULD NOT SCORE on a penalty shot on a goalie I never heard of in the Blue+White scrimmage game....
These are PROSPECTS, some pan out, an others dont, but stop over-hyping what we have compared to proven NHL players..... - Ur Not Me
Grabner had 34 goals as a rookie... 20 goals in his sophmore slump. almost 1/2 of them were short handed. I understand the frustration that he could have 50 goals if he scored more on break aways... but to anyone not blind with Islander Hate.. he is a "proven NHL player" .. fyi.

does not make sense |

So is Grabner a top 20 player in the league?
If Ducks wanted Grabner in a package for Ryan, do u make the trade?
an who is the better player?

Listen is Strome going to be good? Who the hell knows, but Ia m willing to give the kid a try before writing him off. I mean I get what youa re saying. The Isalnders everytime we draft someone make it seem that this guy is going to save the franchise but so far only Tavares and possibly HAmonic can get that title in recent years. I am not sold on the others until they make it to the NHL and produce. |

Not for nothing if he is a proven NHL player then teams like Vancouver and or Florida who were desperate for scoring at the time would have never released him. |

you crack me up... a player is either Crosby or sux. No Grabner is not a top 20 player in the league.. but he is a VERY good top 6 player on any team in the NHL. I am sorry you will never agree with that untill he is holding a cup over his head. |

Fair enough but can we find some middle ground on Strome, Niederreiter and everyone under 26 on this team. |

never mentioned 5 pieces
but the Isles roster is not looking that good going forward.
Same team with minor additions/ and major subtractions,
so next yr instead of the 4th pick in the draft, maybe the 8 or 9th pick

You mean teams like Florida who traded Luongo for nothing and made zero playoffs for a decade? Vancouver who took Jeff Tambellini instead to replace Grabner from the Islanders who to this day have won what again and signed a goalie to a massive contract they want out? |

Yes, hopefully they will be studs, but to not trade them for proven NHL talent is wrong. Also another reason is that im not that CONFIDENT the the organization will develop these kids properly |

But do you think Vancouver would have released him if he had previously scored 34 and then 20 goals for them? Of course not! |

You seem like a reasonable person, do you actually believe in a league where the days of Kirk Muller or Eric Lindros taking their ball and going home which was almost 20 years ago, Ryan or any player in this league is going to do that short of Heatley?
If Ryan came here in a trade, he will play out his contract, get a nice NTC when eligible and will go where he wants. - NYI
which was one of the options i presented....listen, bobby ryan is a big name and a trade to LI would be a BIG TRADE-- if he doesnt endorse LI and leaves after his contract is up, it would speak volumes...bad PR for the isles....(to answer your question, yes i do think a player would do it...exclude heatley from the discussion is throwing away facts, so ill point in his direction)
AGAIN, its a chance id take for the right price. |

2 (frank)in morons, arguing fo rthe sake of arguing.. - bixll
NYI returns. Follows his script and Spewed his rhetoric. Attacks and drags this blog down (tough to do) with name calling, nonsense, meaningless posts and innuendo's. He Picks up a couple of Delusional Lost Disciples along the way (who also take pleasure in belittlement ) and now this blog has again descended to new depths.
Enjoy fellas.
I have better things to do then listen to endless debates that obviously have no conclusion & make no sense because the topic changes with each exhausting breath.
Be Proud of your accomplishment.

I will say this in regard to Carle. I was in no way interested in seeing us try to offer a contract like he got. I've seen enough of him, living in the area, to know that while he's a good player, he's nowhere close to good enough for that contract.
While the Isles defense won't strike fear in the hearts of other teams, it's probably the best defensive corps we've rolled out in nearly 8 years. Hamonic's a year older and more experienced, Streit is 100% healthy, Lub should help out on our second pairing and Carkner is a big tough physical presence we've needed.
My two biggest concerns on defense are:
1. Can Carkner actually play a full season without getting hurt?
2. What about A-Mac! He was AWFUL last year and I think anything more than a 5 or 6 spot on the roster is asking him to play above his abilities. - keaner17
2 very good concerns; i happen to think another dman will be here to shore up the blue line.
i see
streit; hamonic
lub; amac/carkner
carkner/amc; dehaan/donovan/FA/trade (if trade could be on 1st 2nd or 3rd) |
