I would sit through another lousy season if we get a new area deal announced this year. If anything happens with LI sadly it will be very last minute.

they didn't get carle because i'm gonna go out on a limb and say Carle had ZERO intrest in playing in long island regardless of the contract

its possible...but if there are going to be complaints then it would be nice to hear some potential solutions

Agreed but you can't not sign players under this assumption. Let's face it, we are all Islander fans and this fear is warranted. Probably has a lot to do with the whole Kirk Muller situation. Ryan would be an excellent addition to this team. He'd be the perfect player for Tavares.

agreed!!

like i said, id love to have him, for the right price

In no way does this prove your point. You do realize that though, don't you?
- Cptmjl

When you write Carle was not the missing link for this team but they have to sign some decent players here and that the well is running dry and I make the point Carle makes more than Tavares the next six years as proof the well is not running dry I have proven my point which is you are a moron.

No go write another book of personal attacks or pivot to DiPietro or about how signing Tavares does not mean Wang did not cure cancer or turn water to wine.

So the guy right now who is miserable in Anaheim, demanding a trade if he were to somehow come here is going to keep complaining even more and that hurts the Isles credibility when he finally can leave in three years?

Isles have two left wings who can put up comparable goal totals. They don't need him that bad.

I dont know I am happy with the team so far. WE got more physical, better defensively. I am worried about the scoring though cause of a few factors.

Okposo - He only plays good the second half of the season after he has been moved to every line to see where he clicks.

Grabner - Cant find the net. Breakaways is his enemy and they should try to avoid that with him at all costs.

Bailey - Well this guy plays when he wants to and that is not often. PAtted his numbers after the ISlanders were out of the playoffs

PA - Well he is gone and even though Boyes could return to old form that is yet to be determined.

Nielson - belongs on the third line hands down. Been saying this since last year.

Nino- Needs to be in the AHL. That is where he should be until he learns the sport a little better.

We need more scoring no doubt about but kiddies this is your team that you are going to see. No Bobby Ryan, Snow is not smart enough to pull off a trade of that value, no more signings, he is already getting hives after the few he signed already and is at Wangs feet askign if he is mad at himf ro signing decent players.

- kasperrko

Totally agree, but the problem is we think some of our players are good enough to succeed, but they are not,
I do understand the fact the we want our home-grown kids to do well, but fact is they are not!!!! Snow an others are over-evaluating what we have,
Frans will never be better than a 3rd line Center
Okoposo will not live up to the potential of a power forward
Grabner has no shot and no breakaway moves, if not for his speed, he done in the NHL
but then again, some think they will pan-out, geez, all 3 of them could go,
And people who are on Strome's bandwagon, the kid who has so much talent, COULD NOT SCORE on a penalty shot on a goalie I never heard of in the Blue+White scrimmage game....
These are PROSPECTS, some pan out, an others dont, but stop over-hyping what we have compared to proven NHL players.....

You seem like a reasonable person, do you actually believe in a league where the days of Kirk Muller or Eric Lindros taking their ball and going home which was almost 20 years ago, Ryan or any player in this league is going to do that short of Heatley?

If Ryan came here in a trade, he will play out his contract, get a nice NTC when eligible and will go where he wants.

2 (frank)in morons, arguing fo rthe sake of arguing..

I will say this in regard to Carle. I was in no way interested in seeing us try to offer a contract like he got. I've seen enough of him, living in the area, to know that while he's a good player, he's nowhere close to good enough for that contract.
While the Isles defense won't strike fear in the hearts of other teams, it's probably the best defensive corps we've rolled out in nearly 8 years. Hamonic's a year older and more experienced, Streit is 100% healthy, Lub should help out on our second pairing and Carkner is a big tough physical presence we've needed.

My two biggest concerns on defense are:
1. Can Carkner actually play a full season without getting hurt?
2. What about A-Mac! He was AWFUL last year and I think anything more than a 5 or 6 spot on the roster is asking him to play above his abilities.

How does this prove your point? You do realize you are making yourself look more ridiculous? In no way does this prove your point. What is your point? Do you even have one? I was consistent in what I said. I never said I was upset about Carle not being signed by the Isles nor did I ever post it was a good contract for the Lightning. You are reaching and trying to fabricate and squeeze something out of my posts but i never stated it. With that move on to somebody else for the day. This was boring/draining from the start which is always the case with you.

I think we finally have a fair question to ask here. Is Ryan a full time left wing who's scoring is in same ballpark as Moulson or Grabner or as a right wing where there is Okposo, Boyes past and maybe Niederreiter's future?
