With our lineup Langenbrunner is at best a 3rd liner these days. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in for that role tho. He made 2.75 last year. I'd like him at 2.5. Might be a good signing to make if Homer really wants Parise. Couldn't hurt. - hereticpride
those 6 goals he scored last yr tell me he's toast |

I think Kane could be had in the right deal...just wish we hadn't made the JVR trade because he was the more valuable commodity. nice to be covered somewhat on d though. - isaiah520
I didn't understand the JVR trade. Sold ridiculously low on him. Let him play half a season show he's healthy and light things up, if you want to trade him then you maximize his value.
I remember back in the winter people balking at a package of Schenn, Kadri and a pick for JVR. |

They have options, just a matter of how much they spend/move to do it. - ob18
Exactly. I'd rather make minor tweaks. How about cheaper one year deals for Peter Mueller and Marc-Andre Gragnani, and trust that the kids will continue to develop and reach their potential? |

It's all orchestrated. Parise and Suter are close friends, both Americans, they were getting things lined up to play in the same City. Signing on the 4th of July makes a ton of sense.
I would be pretty surprised if they both don't land in Minny. |

Yea, I tried that on Sunday and Monday and ended up unconscious. Andy's usually pretty solid though |

The problem with that trade for me is I am not a fan of Kadri or Schenn OR JVR. I like the pick though. |

after the bob move, I don't get much of what homer is doing. rule of thumb for trades- if you're thinking afterwards " is that all we got back" or " there have to be more moves coming" , your team usually made a bad deal. |

Why was MAG not qualified? (That is why he's on the market, right?) Mueller I understand has concussion issues. |

No word on with who. Also, sounds as though Detroit is the odds on fave for Suter? |

Maybe there were long term concerns about his hip injury. That's the only thing I can think of. Trading off another guy who just agreed to a long term deal is going to start effecting free agents willingness to sign in Philadelphia. |

Also leaves room to add some 4th line grit on short term deals, like Winnick, Kostopolus or even Fedotenko or Jay Pandolfo as veteran presence |

Probably because Vancouver is close to the ceiling and expects to get multiple assets for Luongo |

So? The Flyers had a 100 point team last year. Why do they need to make massive changes? |

The Bob trade I liked, thought they got good value for him. Close to what Nashville got for Lindback, but then they used the main asset of the trade on a project goaltender who is at least 5-6 yrs away at the earliest. I would have preferred a somewhat safer more conventional player picked in the second round. |

eh, I think everyone knew that the injury to Pronger kinda knew this trade was gonna happen. I do think that trading guys after signing long term deals needs to stop. |

I could be wrong, but I believe it had more to do with a tug of war with the organization. Maybe not as high profile as Lindros, but it was there. I hope he does great in Toronto, but I feel he is going to flop depending on how they use him. If he does play center I think Toronto is going to get a big wake up call. |

Well the Pronger injury really increased the need for a physical presence on the blueline. Schenn is physical, and he's a good shot blocker. He's only 22 so perhaps he can put everything together and become a solid # 2, it's probably more likely he's a second pairing guy, but jury is still out on that. |

I'm not complaining, but the cap space is making me nervous.
like I tweeted - this much cap space for homer is like sunlight for Dracula |

Knowing Homer, all the Flyers eggs are probably not in the Suter / Parise basket. I'm sure there is a plan B and, like Jsaq, I still like our team a lot.
I can't help but wonder what that Plan B is though. If we really want Ryan, just don't trade Couts or Schenn; if a defenseman is needed in the trade, so be it as long as we have an idea of who to replace them with.
I'd love Doan but his age and the years I've heard he wants is disconcerting.
Still don't want Nash.
Happy 4th Everyone!
P.S. Band of Brothers is on, and I love hating David Schwimmers character. |
