The last 3 days have been so much fun that I hope Crosby doesn't re-up so we can do it again next year. |

If he resigns there they are very limited in what kind of moves they can make moving forward, given their economic situation. Doesnt necessarily hurt the Penguins if he stays. - Gunner Staal
I don't know a ton about the Devils prospects (ironic since I work in the building that their AHL team plays in), but doing things like giving Marty and Salvador and extra year, and if they dump the rest of their money on Parise, it seems like they are going for it all in the next year or so without much regard for the future. Not a ton of youth there, and no future goaltender in the system, and a mess of an ownership situation.
When the Pens went through their ownership struggles, at least they dumped players and got leaner financially, the Devils keep spending. |

If the Parise process continues to drag on, have to wonder if #Devils are scrambling to refinance team debt and asking him to stall |

Honestly, if you are being 100% objective I think Parise has 3 real options
(1) New Jersey [Familiar & Certain]: A 40yr-old goalie w/ no discerable heir for when he retires & limited financial capability going forward, but its been his home for the past 7yrs.
(2) Minnesota [Money]: The Wild suck and aren't getting better anytime soon. Sorry, they just aren't. But the have a pile of cash with his name on it. And, for some people, money does indeed equal happiness.
(3) Pittsburgh [Winning]: The Pens will be good for a very, very long time w/ Sid and Geno. Parise could end up being the 3rd, 4th, or even 5th fiddle on the team, but he'd have the chance to win the Stanley Cup more than once.
All the other teams are lesser variations of Pitt. (at least in my opinion).
Detroit: Like Pitt., but with an older supporting cast.
Chicago: Like Pitt., but with less Cap Space. & a tough long-term contract already in Hossa.
Phildelphia: Like Pitt., but with less Cap Space. |

Yeah... I just don't see Minnesota being a great draw and wasting your last couple under-30 years on a losing team.
I said before, if he's that worried about going home someday, sign a shorter (6-7) year deal, and finish your career in Minnesota.

Only thing that Pittsburgh has, is the quality of centers. Crosby/Malkin edge Toews/Sharp a little.
Chances are in Pittsburgh, he's going out with an all star center on every shift.

But man...if true, that should raise all kinds of red flags....like the mortgage broker and the couple desperate to get into a house they shouldn't really be buying because they can't really afford it but really want to have it and the broker really wants to seal the deal. |

Ture, but Chicago already has Hossa, less cap space, and only one elite C in Towes. Plus, its out West with a heck of a lot more travel. Chicago is also a bit more filled out on the W's already as compared to Pitt w/ Hossa and Kae. Why I put them as a lesser option than Pitt (at least in my mind). |

Who saw New Jersey getting to the finals this year, though ? I thought they were going to be a borderline playoff team (honestly thought they would be on the outside looking in). Who is to say that Minnesota, with Parise, can't be competitive in the next year or two ? |

Honestly, I think that angle is over-rated.
Personally, I grew up in Pitt., but have lived the past 6yrs of my life in Washington, DC. I'll always go back to Pitt. to see my family and for sporting events, but I live in DC now. Parise has lived in NJ for 6yrs. In many ways, that is more his home now than Minnesota is. |

Being the Captain of Team USA, I think ZP just wanted to get his press on July 4th instead of Canada Day!
EDIT: Lol, you knew it wouldn't be long before something like this appeared;
Zach Parise @undecidedparise
Philadelphia is offering me the most money, I don’t know why, I eliminated them from the playoffs and they like me still, weirdos
