I stll don't see how Hudler warranted the same contract as PA Parentau given their respective seasons, so, no, I don't like the deal for the Flames, especially when they could've re-signed Jokinen for a less total amount.
- LordStanley88

with more ES, PP, and feaster said even PK time, he'll be a 60-point player for them, imo. parenteau's got nowhere to go but down.

If you sign Carle, then MAB/Gus become your 7th d-man.

Only proving my point further. This team outperformed its expectations last year with very little chemistry up and down the lineup. Let ir breathe a little and who knows what can happen.

i wonder where he stands right now. would he be interested in signing an extension and cashing in while his value is high or does he risk another 09-10 and see if he's got another year like 11-12 in him?
- OrangeBlack27

Really, really interesting sitch. He's due for a raise, but he's going to be 31 at year's end. I hope they wait and see how this upcoming season plays out some first.

Yup. See the Pronger fiasco in Edmonton as a great example.
- LordStanley88

Ironically, didn't Pronger move back to St. Louis?

I think Hartnell will be looking for something along the lines of what Neal got in his l-t extension.

Here we go again. Just like no one want to play in Detroit because it's such a horrible place to live. I doubt that has anything to do with his decision. There are nice suburbs around all major markets.
- Jimmygrazz

Here we don't go again. You're making crap up. The player himself said he is looking at things from all different angles.

I didn't say he wouldn't come here because it is a horrible place to live.

I think you are arguing a point that I didn't make, or you're just making crap up.

I'm sure when Parise doesn't sign here you will state that I was right.

I'd do that in a heartbeat. I was thinking $22 mil, off the top of my head, for the same term.

That is insane. I sure hope the Flyers are saved from their own insanity and Parise and Suter pick other teams.

A reasonable offer for Hartnell would be 5 yrs/$25 million.

Before last year, I thought Hartnell was the worst athlete I have seen on skates. Let's see how this season plays out.

I think a lot depends on what they do now. If they do nothing, they have Timmo gone. Maybe some relief on Prongers contract. Lots of new FA and players available.

A lot can happen. But simply based on today's rates - he is looking at 6 million range IMO.

could but, but not sure those two are exactly comparable since neal signed that deal at 24, not 31 like hartnell. also, neal scored 40 goals and was a ppg player this year. two things hartnell has never done and his career averages are a little more than half of that.

If Hartnell pots 35 goals again this will probably be closer to the number. 5.5 cap hit. He will be 31 when he signs.

Hartnell socred 37 goals and 67 points. Not too far off.

I agree about the age factor though.

Hockey scouts seem to dsiagree with you considering he was selected 6th overall in 2000.

he sure did, but that looks more like an anomaly at his age, while neal's season looks more like an upward trend.
