do they not have to move out some guys to accommodate a big salary, or do they really have enough room and can keep everyone else? i fully admit i'm not clear on their cap situation.
- hammarby31

They could sign a player to a 8M Cap hit. Re-sign Voracek for 3.5M. And still have about 3.8M to play with.

parise would be great, sure, but at what price? and who do we have to move to accomodate him. somebody, right? i don't want giving up the young glue guys like simmonds, voracek, read, etc either for a single player, ie, ryan. i hate those multiplayer for 1 player deals.

i'd like doan. what dman do you want? who's out there?

- hammarby31

i'd roll with our current D, but if they don't sign Carle, I'd look to bring in another 4 or 5. Don't know who is still out there. i'm trying to stay abreast of the situation but am not fully up on all info.

They can currently fit one of those deals under the cap without needing to move salary. If both deals were accepted and signed, they would need to clear cap space.
- Flyers2821

i'd prefer parise and take a run at weber next year. i don't like these monster contracts, but it seems like even those deals are moveable (except luongo's). i just don't see him signing here.

maybe, but not really. plus those two teams don't have our lineup nor our salary structure/situation.
- wilsonecho91

I'm not really sure what that means. Pitt has two players on their roster making $8.7 mill a year already plus Neal and Fluery's contracts. Detroit has three players signed through 2019 and beyond. Those teams have more big long term money committed to players than we do.

they brought syvret back today, so there you go.
- hammarby31

Syvret and Leighton so far. Good Lord...

Devils are bankrupt and they have spent 10 million + resigning guys and are still in on Parise. How is this possible.

Doan said he won't sign until 7-8 i think, so if they don't get anywhere before then, he becomes an option, but i doubt they are making him a priority. who knows though.
- wilsonecho91

they can wait on doan. if they've really put these crazy offers in on parise/suter, they're waiting on them anyway.

Before signing BOTH players yes. Not to sign one of them.

if they can stay healthy, and meszy rebounds, and schenn takes a step forward they'll be fine. let gusty and bourdon get some minutes, and lilja is still serviceable.

He might if Suter does as well. As I mentioned earlier, does any other team have humongous offers to *both* players on the table?

If they don't land one of the two studs, the question is where is all this cap space going? The only imminent signing is Voracek in the 3.2-3.5 range.

Yes they do. Minnesota, deroit and pitt are all believed to have big offers out to both players. Possibly Nashville and chicago as well.

Almost every team linked to one of those players has been linked to both.

I really don't see Parise or Suter worth decade long deals. And I don't see Carle worth 6M. And I'm not crazy about trading for Ryan or Nash. If the Flyers are going to get into a franchise deal, I want it to be for a franchise player. Such as Weber. But that's a longshot. I'm prepared for the Flyers to make a big move. I'd prefer that they remain quiet here and sign some stopgap players for the short term. And make the right move when it comes. But when the big move inevitably comes, I will be objective. If they sign Parise, Suter, or Carle. It will make the Flyers a better team. Even if I don't like the contract.

Wasn't it reported that Detroit upped their offer for Suter to be similar to the Monster one we offered him?

Depends what we offered. The rumor was that their original offer was 13 years $80 mill and they upped that to 13 years $90 mill today. Then met with Suter today.

They are really making a push for him and I think they are going to get him.
