I thought it was for sure that Lou was a hall of fame GM and would not let Parise leave and that a week was more than enough time to get a deal done.
I think I also saw Mr. Dmarsden say that he heard they already had the framework of a deal done and were just working out specifics.
specifically - helping him put his house up for sale and finding a travel agent! |

This is exactly why people respond to you in a douchebag way. - _Zippy_
Well I was mocked and ridiculed and told I had no idea what I was talking about when myself and others merely suggested this was going to be the outcome. So unfortunately the Devils fans that don't deserve any flack are forced to hear a little pay back along with the ones that do deserve it. Especially the all knowing Devils guru rmdevil313...
It was fairly obvious to the majority of fans outside of NJ that the writing was on the wall, even considering Lou's long time methods of dealing with UFA's. |

Already confirmed that NJ simply doesn't have the money to pay Marty. - ash146
That's because Marty wants $6m. Which is retarded. |

It feels like the summer when Elias was UFA. Dipped toes in, everyone made a big deal, was resigned by NJ. |

or Hamilton...
as of right now it seems that Phoenix is better off than NJ.
NHL already said that in addition to losing Brodeur and Parise that if they have to take over the team they would trade Kovy too. |

We disproved your speculation. Never did we say that he wouldn't reach the UFA market we merely said the theory that a deal should've gotten done sooner if he really wanted to return, which you used as the basis for Parise leaving in your argument. |

I didn't mock you or should anybody else. Not one fan here knows whats really going on. All we do is "read" other people's stories and reply to others with that story said as if it was facts. Devil fans have been hearing from Parise, Lou Lam and Arnott(Parise's agent) that they are trying everything to get a deal done. Now there are tons of outside stories that say it won't or can't be done which also can be true. The problem here is we are all going by other people's stories and we all don't know what to really believe. If we just go by common sense which nobody here has or we wouldn't be on this "great" site (i'm trying to be nice here Ek), if you were in Marty's or Zach's or anybody else's shoes who happens to be hitting free-agency what would you do? You go for the money so my bet is whoever offers the most money (not just a few cents either) will get the player. |

No, it's that great support they "haven't" been getting over the last 20yrs when the Devils were the 2nd best team over that period in hockey
edit...It's time for them to be moved!!! I'll still be a fan of the Quebec Devils |

6 mil for a 3 time s-cup winner and a finalist this year? Someone will pay Brodeur that for a year of his services, Brodeur was great thru the playoffs....

The Devils might be in trouble but losing Marty, who happens to be a declining 40yr old goalie and Parise, who might sign an albatross contract close to 9-10mil a year are not the reason. |

my worry is that we lose brodeur and parise and we're handcuffed into not being able to make ANY moves for decent players a la the blues last year...our fanbase is thin enough as it is..this will NOT help attract new fans |

You could do the classy thing and laugh to yourself instead of piling on.
It'd be weird to see Marty in a different jersey. I hope he retires a Devil. - nhindian

Look what happened to the leafs when sundin left..... Expect more of the same with the possibility of a declining brodeur and a blossoming pairise gone from the henhouse....someone needs to shoot the (frank)ing fox
