Congrats to all the inductees.
Is Bure really worthy? Sure, he had a 4 or 5 great seasons, but he only played 702 games.
I almost think that Shanahan, Lindros, Roenick and Joseph have better cases!

My problem with the HHOF is that it celebrates longevity over everything else.
Glaring case in point: Mike Gartner.
Yes, most 30 goal seasons ever. Which means he was above average for a long time.
Sorry, he shouldn't be in the Hall.
And don't even get me started about Joe Mullen. - Atomic Wedgie
a guy with 8 40 goal season doesnt get in?
poop..people are ready to induct Kessel already and hes only 8 40 goals seasons away from him

Your right he was over a PPG player. |

No Markus Naslund, Lindros. yay or nay? - LeafMan
Lindros - absolutely.
Probably the most dominant player to ever come out of junior.
Canada Cup winner at the age of 18.
Hart trophy.
In his prime, nobody was more exciting to watch. |

what kind of math are you using? 779 points in 702 games = 1.11ppg |

Sundin should have had to wait. Sundin over shanny is highway robbery.
100 more goals and 3 cups to 0.
Makes no sense. - CBJcurmudgeon
This is the HOCKEY hall of fame
Not the NHL hall of fame
Sundin did so much for team Sweden, and that is what got him in.
4 gold medals (1 olympic, 3 world), 1 silver and a bronze
Sundin had nobody to play with for the majority of his career, with a declining Mogilny, roberts, and Hoglund... a superstar cast
Shanny played with some guys named Lidstrom, Yzerman, and Fedorov.... were they any good?
Character has a lot to do with it as well.
Sundin was a class act the whole way
If you ask me, Bure is the one that should sit out this years ceremony.
With the amount of superstars eligible Sakic, Oates, Sundin, and Shanahan have contributed most to the game.
just my $0.02 |

Joe Bowen on Hockey Central at Noon said that they do consider the players in question within the context of their peers, their generation so to speak, so in 15-20 years when guys like Crosby, Malkin, etc. are up, no question, but the lesser guys like Kessel (if he continues on his pace) will have to be considered because of what they did within the timeframe that they played in. |

disagree. i don't think he ever gets in. i'd put money on it in fact. (and i'm a huge naslund fan). - RealityChecker
I just looked up his stats and he did only average about 63 points per season...so maybe you're right. |

i don't even know why there's a discussion.
just another example of how the hhof is more about the politics of the committee members than it is about the players being voted on. |
