i do, cause we need space for Parise
and by space i mean cap space - bobbyisno1
Demote... Lombardi and Armstrong... that's much easier then trading Gunner and Kadri for a Centre who probably isn't much of an upgrade to what Kadri will be in year or two. |

I'm no Connolly lover, but why would you send him to the Marlies last year?
As bad as he was, there was nobody better than him to replace him. - Atomic Wedgie
define "better"
Colborne, Kadri, Frattin would have split his games over the season, and the team would be better for it.
Connolly wasn't even as bad as most would like to believe, and I for one didn't mind the signing at the time, but hindsight of a 26h place finish shows it really wasn't a useful signing. Thank god only 2 years
EDIT: but obviously he would NEVER be sent down in the 1st year of a regardless of his play |

Just about time for a new blog. This one's degenerated into an internet food fight, with geriatric sports comentators in the crosshairs. It's just about time for a Justin Schultz update, isn't it? How about we shake up the hockey world, with an offer sheet for Cary Price? Call it revenge for stealing Galchenyuk and taking away Rick Dudley. Spice up the old rivalry, don't you think? |

Colborne has become the new Kadri. Give him more time in the AHL, bring up Kadri and let him play. Hes earned it by now. |

Very useful signing.... three reasons 1) Reilly 2) they weren't winning the cup anyway and 3) Kadri and Colborne probably developed much better contending in the A rather then losing all confidence in the N.

Hell ya... he needs to play with a big guy who can hit and score. Kadri's best assest is his passing ability. |

1) woulda had him anyway, maybe even picked higher
2) exactly my point
3) no, they didn't. they both went on huge slumps after being sent back down. (yes Colborne I know was hurt...) Marlies Playoff run would have been there anyway. |

Colborne was not ready for the NHL, and benefited greatly from a stint with the Marlies.

Colborne was not ready to start season, no, but started lights out and earned a call up.
Fratting played 23 games for Marlies, not including playoffs
Kadri would likely have been with the Leafs out of camp had he not been injured. He's a skill player who needs to play with other skilled players to improve at this point.
In looking this up I was just shocked to learn Connolly actually played 70 games - felt like less than that.
All I was saying is longer stints in NHL for Colborne and Kadri, and Frattin (he got stuck down for a bit longer than probably necessary) wouldl ikley have been more beneficial to the team in the long run.
but meh, this is starting to sound like a UG point of view... no point arguing about what's already happened and can't change. |
