Mark Howe - yes. You need to look at his WHA resume.
Dino - no
Belfour - could have gone either way. But I don't lose any sleep over it.
Niewendyk - wouldn't have received my vote. Sorry. |

If the #6 all time goal scorer isnt there, none of these hacks should be there.

and that's where all of this falls apart.
basically, the HHOF has let in a lot of good to slightly better than good players.
now the question always becomes: well if he's in, why isn't player X?
basically, this argument boils down to that the standards have never been very high so why start now? |

I don't need a hall of fame to tell me who they think is great, I rather judge on who (the ones I have seen) catches my eyes as they play the game. |

#Canucks Gillis is asking an EXTRAORDINARILY large amount from the #Leafs and #Panthers for Luongo.
THNHockeyInsider@THNInsider
From #Leafs he is asking for Gardiner, a 1st round pick and one other piece.
THNHockeyInsider@THNInsider
From the #Panthers he is asking for Bjugstad, a 1st round pick, and another piece. Gillis will not receive close to this
Gillis is (frank)ing braindead if he thinks he'll get this for Lu |

He's gotta come in high (or maybe he's just high) and bargain down from there.
Luongo's going to get a decent roster player/middling prospect, a salary dump, and a mid-round pick like D'Amigo, Komisarek, and a 2nd, or Mac, Komisarek, and a 3rd. |

But at least Bure was one of the most dynamic players in the game for a while.
Do you really think that Mike Gartner is more worthy than Lindros? - Atomic Wedgie
Yes. I do place a value on longevity if high-level performance can be sustained consistently.
The guy scored 79 goals in the last 3 years of his career as he approached 40. That's pretty rare. So is 700+ goals.
Lindros had about three to four year span where he was among the best players in the game (not the clear-cut best all the time). He was very good for most of the rest and broke down quickly.
For what it's worth, I think Lindros ought to be in before Bure, anyway. He had more points, roughly equal PPG, and was a more complete hockey player.
For a forward, 500 goals or 1000 points ought to be the bare minimum threshold. And even that seems too low at times. To make an exception, you'd better have a hell of a good reason. Lindros comes closer to making the exception than Bure.
700-something career points? Really? |

Heck yes.
Bure skated really fast down the wing.
Lindros hit, punched, intimidated and scored. |

Just walk away Burke. Please for the love of God, walk away.
Obviously Gillis isnt expecting a return like that. But maybe if you ask for 3 good assets you can get one. |
