6 players in NHL history have more than 700 goals.
6 players out of all NHL players alltime....
Whats the percentage on that? - robin_steele264
700 goals is pretty amazing.
Gartner never won any awards..but holy shyte, how could anyone with Gretzky and Lemieux in the NHL at the time.

I think the fact we're debating this is redundant since he's already in the HOF anyway. - Domaju
Until Burke trades for Getzlaf, I'll continue with my moot points, thank you very much. |

Did you ever watch Lindros in his prime?
Sorry, but there is absolutely no comparison to their physical games. - Atomic Wedgie
No I didn't to be honest with you.
It wasn't until about 2006 that I started pay attention to anything outside of Toronto. And even before that I didn't pay attention to anything other than what happened from game to game and if a trade was made. |

My problem with the HHOF is that it celebrates longevity over everything else.
Glaring case in point: Mike Gartner.
Yes, most 30 goal seasons ever. Which means he was above average for a long time.
Sorry, he shouldn't be in the Hall.
And don't even get me started about Joe Mullen. - Atomic Wedgie
There's got to be a balance. Crawling your way to 1000+ points into your 40's is a no-no.
But on the flip side, why are some guys penalized for playing long, healthy, productive careers?
If PPG is the only thing that got Bure into the HOF, then that's almost insulting to our intelligence.
We may as well start inducting guys at age 30 based on their first decade of work alone.
The fact that Bure got in means that we're now forced to discuss Lindros and Naslund. Gross. It's not a Hall of Fame anymore; it's a Hall of "Hey Remember That Guy Who Had A Couple Really Good Years in the 90's". |

But at least Bure was one of the most dynamic players in the game for a while.
Do you really think that Mike Gartner is more worthy than Lindros?
