Well at least we won't be getting Nash because apparently jvr was the centerpiece of the deal got to wonder homer must of wanted more then Nash in return |

Coburn won't replace Visnovsky. I think Meszaros would make more sense. - Schenn2shine
Again I'll say it.. you trade a dman + to get a forward you create another hole on D. Do you fill that with a FA? |

Most likely the Flyers were/are looking into Ryan. What if ANA didn't want JVR? The Flyers can't force ANA into a player just because we want to dump them. Maybe ANA is looking for defense or picks.
Another thing I don't get is the most people think in linear terms of one trade at a time, i.e. offense for offense, defense for defense. The Rumor of Coburn for Ryan, if true, may not look good on the surface. But, if Homer pulls the trigger on this deal - he may have another deal/signing for another defenseman to fill the gap. I'd like to see Homer's "war room".
And, Homer has been rumored as interested in multiple signed players and UFA. Some are high priced... I assume that if they pick up a Weber, Praise, etc... Homer will have a plan to fit within the cap. As he said regarding the draft - pick the best player available... I assume he uses that logic for trades and signing UFA - as long as it fits within the cap. - leon neon
I expect Homer is thinking creatively as you say, but if you make say one trade that leads to another or sign a UFA or two you begin overhauling a roster that was just overhauled last season. I'd like to keep most of the corp together for a bit. |

I never said anything other wise. Obviously you'd have to send more in a deal for Ryan. |

Watching sportsnet up here in Kanida...
John Shannon said with the Schenn trade, he is hearing that because visnovsky went to NYI, ANaheim needs a Dman and he expects the Flyers to send a dman plus to Anaheim for Ryan in the next few days. He mentioned Coburn.
I don't put much stock in this personally. We just got a dman for a forward and why the hell would we trade one of the dman to add to the forward corps. - Hextall271
no, not doing that deal. THey just resigned Coburn at a great cap hit.
That would be stupid. Stop trying to get the sexy deal homer, and make the ones that make sense. |

That's what I am most worried about. Don't really want to gut the team. |

So who are they going to send out in that deal? I wouldnt offer more than Mez and Voracek. Couturier and Schenn are untouchable. |

Yes, I just filled up my car with gas at 57 cents a gallon, and mailed a few letters with 10 cent stamps on them. |

Not sure if Anaheim would bite but I think this would be a good deal for the Flyers
TO ANA: Meszaros, Voracek, Cousins
TO PHI: Bobby Ryan, Rights to Schultz |

And coburn goes no where either hopefully!
Schenn in. Coburn. Out. Equals a weaker D |

I'm not moving Coburn. Mez and Voracek for Ryan. Max offer. Flyers can add another forward in free agency like P.A. Parenteau. |

Only problem with Schultz is that he can start negotiating with any team starting tomorrow. He can't officially sign until July 1 but we'd only have his rights for a matter of hours to negotiate alone. |

Out of all the people on D, I would only move Meszaros because of his back injury. Even then, i'm hesistant. Unless they unload Kimmo because he's a good cap hit but salary is very low, but that's not happening either. |

I agree. Coburn was easily our best D in the playoffs. |

I see well Cousins was a throw in to grab Schultz rights, I'm not trading any more roster players than Meszy and Voracek for Ryan. |
