I remeber that hit too. Confidence is exactly what it's all about.....for some reason, in his 2nd year he was hesitant to step up and make that hit. His decision-making took a step back too. That ALL comes down to confidence. Then in the 3rd year, he seemed to get back on track. then he signed the big contract before last season and I think that messed with his mind a little. he felt he had to live up to it and in turn, took a step back again. Hopefully he'll turn it around again and under the tutilege of Carlyle can become the tough stay-at-home shut down monster he is meant to be.

Agreed, the only expanation for the 2 Schenn's is mental issues. If he can keep it together, he'll be a solid piece of the core. What worries me though is the fact his mental state can have such a huge bearing on his game.

Cause if they're trading for a goalie they're doing it for a proven veteran...not an unproven guy who couldn't even put up respectable numbers on the flyers. Gawd if he had those numbers last year with the flyers imagine his numbers on the leafs.

We had last winter, all of spring and now summer. It appears that Burke has lost his nerve and is afraid to pull the trigger on a big deal. Why not throw Kessel into the mix and see if it can bring us back a Bobby Ryan or Rick Nash? Heaven knows, we are a perimeter team, with Kessel playing on the first line. The whole NHL found out how easy it was to beat the Leafs, because they just boxed out our small forwards. Size wins in the playoffs, so it's time to cut bait with Kessel and grab one of the two above players. They should also be looking at adding JVR, for one of our defencemen that is not named Gardiner. More size and grittier game will get us closer to a playoff spot. As it sits now, I fear that we're looking at 15th place in the conference, without an upgrade in the top 6. Every other team in the conference improved their team going forward. We stayed stagnant.
