And like I said earlier, I don't think playing with his brother is as important as it could be if they actually were playing on the same line.

Rumour has it... Penguins wanted to sign Staal because they had intentions of trading Malkin for a boatload to Toronto.

Trade would include... the 5th this year, their first next year, Gardiner++++

What do you guys think of this???

- jimmc7722

I highly doubt that's true....but if it were, for argument's sake......I hate the idea of trading Gardiner and the 1sts, but the thought of Malkin's #71 in the blue and white, damn......that kinda makes the libido twitch a little bit.

while playing with his bro probably sounds very appealing to him, he must know he would be the #2 center in carolina. in buffalo he'd be our first center, hands down. so i think buffalo has an edge in that regard.... (hopefully)
- mike719

I think the idea was that Eric would move to wing so they could play together...obviously not set in stone, but just to say. The bigger risk is the "blank cheque" from a team like BUF that CAR simply cannot match...how much of a cut is Staal really willing to take to play in CAR? I think his larger concern is getting to be a #1 guy on a good team...time till tell I guess...

Tim Thomas waived his NTC ages ago? Or last week. It is news because it was made public today. Can't wait for the draft tonight, hoping for a repeat of last years MALKIN BEING TRADED RIGHT NOW! (paraphrase) blog.

Brian Burke is considering trades for a few centers. He's inquired about Statsny, Getzlaf, and Krejci.

@MapleLeafs and Luongo is close. I'm not convinced it gets done this weekend, but the sides are getting closer to a deal.

what about convincing parise to sign in buffalo? he is, after all, best friends with drew stafford.

staal could probably be convinced to stay too, i would just be nervous they give up too much and have him leave after this season. but if carolina thinks/believes that they can get staal guaranteed next july, why would they trade for him now? so that makes me think he is not going to go for a huge return because teams are nervous about him only being a rental.

thoughts?

- mike719

If Staal doesn't want to stay in Pittsburgh, why would he sign in Buffalo? If it's not Pittsburgh then the only other place he signs is Carolina.

I think if the Oilers don't take Yakupov, the Jackets are likely to trade the #2 to someone else (Players + Low 1st round pick), who will pick Yakupov.

Likely target would be Toronto, Ana, Minny or Carolina so they can still get a quality pick.

The Odds of the Oilers and Blue Jackets letting Yakupov both slip past are so small.

But here is hoping it happens!

I read earlier that Columbus is really big on Galchenyuk, so the possibility is there. Nail is great but I see him being like a Bure and not having a very long career due to his style of play, but the career he does have will be explosive.

WOW...I don't see that happening to TOR though...would have to be out of conference. Perhaps ANA would be a better fit, Ryan + 6th + Etem...for example.

Vancity doesn't want him.

Thats close! Like remember when Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman broke up.
I wanted Nicole.
She didn't want Tom.

I was close to bump'n uglies with Nicole Kidman.

In BUF he's the #1 guy, great line (potentially) with Vanek+Pomminville, good team, owner who has the cash and desire to win, big pay day, close to home...the list goes on...

I just think the Jackets need as much depth in all areas... if they could get a solid player + a 5-8 pick for the #2 (ie: Yakupov being available), they do it.

They still have a shot at Forsberg or the Finn, or one of those top rated D.

What would the Pens want with Yandle? Already have a better version on our team (Letang), Depres ready to make the jump, and Morrow in the pipeline. We need to get bigger/tougher/more physical on the blueline

If I were Philly I'd take that, turn around yell "NO GIVESIES BACKSIES!" at the top of my lungs and run home, taking Dumba or Reinhart with the 6.

Here's how I'd like to see it play out (I won't bore with the trade details)

1. Murray to CBJ
2. Galy to Leafs
3. Forsberg to MTL
4. Yakupov to NYI
5. Reinhart to EDM

*Hearing Columbus was in on Luongo, but found he was going to Toronto so traded for Bobrovsky.

*There are reports Tim Thomas has waived his No-trade. That happened ages ago as he did so that Boston could get cap relief. There is nothing new on Thomas today at all.

* Despite reports to the contrary, I am now confident the Canadiens do NOT intend to take Teravainen at #3.

I cannot imagine how Black Hawks fans feel about Lou playing for them. How could Black Hawk management even put the fans through this.

The Canuck equivilant would be the jerk who concussed D Sedin coming back. Was it Keith.... can't remember ... they are all jerks.
