It's disgusting. Lets give him some time. We needed a center, but cannot reach that far off the board. If they think rielly was the best there at the time, then give him a chance for (frank) sakes. - burn

So Han Solo is super cool because he owns a Garmin?
No wonder I used to pound you for your lunch money every day. - Atomic Wedgie
He's super cool because he takes risks and it panned out instead of following the slow and steady route.
I mean come on he risked his life picking a route that went so close to a black hole cluster |

He has undeniable skill
He'll fit in well.
Not the goalie they need, and they'll have to deal with that, but I think that CHI is in good shape going forward |

What sh!tstorm? Very real chance it is atleast two years before he sees NHL time. The team could look very different by then. - Leafs43
I think the fans poopstorm. Just want to complain. Pretty sad. |

You're not being serious. - Timeforsoup
No I don't take you seriously.. but I am chopping down a few trees as we speak... I am wearing two fur coats, I drive a big 4x4 that leaks gas all over the floor, it has an air conditioning leak.. but I just refill the freon every day to worsen the affects of Global Warming.. and I give my chinese neighbour cats as gifts... |

ugh yeah I remember that.
And throughout that year I actually really liked how well that 6th overall pick translated into a good 3rd liner on our tem |

What's really questionable right now is the fallout.
What does this mean for Schenn?
We have Gardiner, Blacker, Percy et al in the pipeline.
Surely something's brewing, and not just in goal. Somethign big in terms of centremen needs to be going down. - AngryWhiteMale
It means nothing for schenn, it might mean one of Blacker, Percy or et all may not pan out though. |

What you fail to realize is there are 17 guys logged on to this thread right now who could be better GMs than Burke.

It will be a minimum of 4 years for him to make the Leafs.. if he is good.. and the fans will be riding this selection for the next two..

Central Scouting and the PROS make mistakes every year so their evaluations need to be taken with a grain of salt.
Big strong centers were to be had in this draft.. and if you take a look around the league.. there are very few of those that you can get easily.. or else we would've already had a few..
little puck carrying defensemen.. that are minuses are easy to get cheap.. hence the acquisition of Liles..
we need to draft centers for years until the cupboard is full.. period. - DoctorNHL
Yes professional scouts make mistakes. But I will still take their opinion over yours.
And also, the description you just made could be attributed to Karlsson in his draft year, so I guess your opinion should be taken with a grain of salt.
(And no, I am not saying Reilly is the next Karlsson) |

Who was available? Grigorenko and Faksa... Faksa is a 2nd/3rd line guy, and a whole bunch of teams just passed on Grogorenko.
Forsberg is more a winger than a center, but a bunch of teams decided not to take a flyer on him, either.
But this is a waste of a post, since you're a montreal fan, just trolling about. |

Probably not.
Great pick Burke!
I hope this means Schenn is gone. - Fakepartofme
Burke took the best player available in his opinion as well as his scouting staff. The kid is most likely going to be in the NHL for a couple years. Not many in this draft are expected to be NHL ready.
The kid he picked is a hard worker and a fighter. I get this opinion not from anyone else but how he fought to get back from his injury. He also speaks of the team and does has stated that he does not expect going high in the draft as being his accomplishment. The only person I have heard interview like this is Galchenyuk. Kids these days think of the draft as entitlement, because of all the media coverage, these two kids seem to have a level approach to it. We need that in this city with all the media coverage.
I don't know these players that well. I do not watch them day in and day out, but from what I have seen they have the right attitude.
