Right now I'm not sure if picking 7 "D" men was a smart move or a dumb one. It depends on whether we chose the correct "D" men. And It depends on who was still on the board after we made each of our picks. I think we may have come up short in both cases.
By no means was Reinhart the Best available "D" man at #4. Nore was he the BAP at #4. But he was ranked #10 by Central Scotting and ISS so it wasnt a big reach.
So I can live with the pick. Provided nothing strange transpires.
He should turn out to be a good "D" man for many years.
Truthfully I really lost interest in this draft after about the 15th pick.
At that point I kind of figured the Isles were going to remain Pat and draft a bunch of undersized Europeans or obscure HS players. I'm pleasantly surprised that did not happen.
Although I am disappointed in our 2nd rd pick, I like the 3rd and a couple of the later picks.
The one move we made. I never heard of the guy. And thats my fault but for a 2013 2nd rd pick. I want someone who's a bit younger and I want someone who will actually Play for the Islanders.
It's funny though. All yr long and especially during the past few weeks. Everyone said we need a Vet "D" man. A #1 ,#2 or at least a #3. And everyone said. NOT AN AGING VET. But what do we get with our #2 pick in 2013. An aging vet. And the Crowd goes wild!!!!! Well at least some of you were dancing in the streets. I'll hold my opinion on this guy when (IF) I see him play. Conspicuously looks like little more than a means to reach the floor. What ever that floor may be. - SCLI
Why are you disappointed with our 2nd pick? |

This draft was a ZZZZ fest. You have teams that have not won the Cup in years or have struggled for years what are they wanting for to trade and make changes? I was happy with the Trade and when I heard his age was 35 I was not exactly thrilled. I was still was ok with it and now with this drama I'm pissed. I like some of the size on D still drafting 7 dmen is very bizare. Garth has to find a way to make an impact deal this summer or he is a failure. He has to go all out to talk Wang into letting him improve this team. |

I have no issues with Visnovsky's age just because he's a stop gap for one year to let some of our kids get their last bit of work in before hitting the island. Plus if he is consistent like he normally is and we're out of it by the usual time we are, we can easily get our 2nd rd pick back for him. Naturally this only matters if he actually reports. |

You make good points. I'm just looking for a better trade pickup this offseason. Something that will make the fans go Wow. I'm also not looking for us to be out of it for once. |

I wish Garth knew that all he really had to do is make one WOW move and the fan base would go crazy. I'd give one of my nuts to land Bobby Ryan. In fact, I'd give them both at this point in my life.

It's not too much to ask and way overdue. We seem to have enough prospects to make a real trade. I've said this over and over but it will only benefit Wang in having a better team. It will give him more leverage.t makes no sense to me. |

How rare are "wow trades" on a yearly basis... There are some GMs that have never made one. There are franchises that haven't had one in over a decade... Granted you also have some franchises like the Flyers & Leafs that seem to make one monthly.. my point being... They dont come along often & to expect our GM to make one is silly.
Also... the knee jerk reaction.. that This team traded player 1 to That team for player 2 & "ohh we could have put a better package together.. Snow sucks for not getting it done" Isn't realistic. most & when i say most.. i mean MOST, big time trades happen where 90% of the GMs in the league didnt even know the players involved were available.

While I'm excited about getting more defense there wasn't any fowards we liked in this draft. Find that hard to believe. But seems snow playing the percentages. Vet as manyas you can if u fing another hamonic to go with reinharth in this draft it's a success.
Biggest move though was getting viznosky. That was a huge move.
This guy almost won Norris trophy few years ago. Our pp going to be way better this year. That's for sure. |

This I agree with completely.
And when I say a WOW trade, I'm not necessarily talking about a superstar or even a rising superstar. Yeah that would be great but as you said, those happen few and far between as it is. How about a trade for an established middle of the road player? Not the cream of the crop, nor the crap in the bottom of the barrel? Sort of like this Visnovsky trade, but even this trade has the potential to be a complete farce. |

I think you saw the writing n the wall yesterday. Hopefully he plays for us but if he doesn't I think it's more than obvious why this "trade" was made. |

I dont want to get into a pissing match on this one,... But if you are going to fill your team with inexpensive talented players & young inexpensive players.. while losing money on the team.... finding a way to cut 10 million from the amount someone else tells you.. you HAVE to spend.. is very smart. No matter how you feel about it... you have to see the smart business logic of it.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
Nah, I don't want to either. I think you see my point and I see yours. If this guy turns out to not play for the Isles I believe it's pretty obvious why this "trade" was made. It will probably piss me off more than anything this team has done which says a lot! It will just prove to the fan base that they are not committed to winning. |

I'm trying to reserve my judgement until he makes his mind up but it's really hard for me to think he's going to come here. I've definitely been known to partake in some of the kool aid consumption but this move, if goes "sour" may have me switching to hatorade! |

I'm TRYING to reserve my judgement too. You made a REALLY good point yesterday. It just seems like too much of a coincidence to me. I said it yesterday to xXx that Thomas would be too obvious. This is a little more cloak and dagger which a lot of casual fans might not pick up on? I will be absolutely furious if this is the case. Why spend your money on a player who isn't going to play when that same money could be used on someone who can help your team? It almost comes across as laziness. Make your team competitive and garner support from your fanbase. It would go a long way for Wangs cause if he did this, if he is such a good buisness man he should be aware of this. Build a better product to sell to your fans. If this is true both Wang and Snow will have egg on their face they won't be able to wipe off. |

I'm not jumping to any conclusions here. Translated interviews always get lost in the translation, so to speak. Gut feeling: he'll be in an Isles uniform come October. I'm not worried. |

The incredible thing is I think you may very well be right. If you are all you lemmings will be happy, I won't be on here female doging anymore. I'll be done. That will definitely be it for me. I'll leave this team for the "die hards". - Cptmjl

It's kinda ridiculous to get this worked up about a translated Slovakian interview. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. The guy just found out he's playing on Long Island...he'll get over the initial shock of that news eventually. |

Interesting article in NY Post...here is an excerpt:
“If we project a guy to be a second-line winger, and we can get a get a second-line winger who’s in his second or third year in the NHL, we’ll make that deal,” Snow said in reference to his overall trade philosophy. “It’s the same asset, but a little more mature asset.”

I would love to see him get Viktor Stalberg from Chicago. He seems to fit that scenario... |

Nabby wasn't gonna report either remember...I get it though as a fan of our isles if it can go wrong it usually does. As far as 7 d-men in the draft, it was more than we likely needed but you never know until a few years how the draft actually worked for you. Some fans are freaking out and saying the season is a right off....those d-men and the forwards we didn't pick wouldn't have any effect on this season anyway so really for these folks relax...we have plenty of other ways to screw up the season anyway!!! lol |

I hope he does better than kirk Muller. If you keep being this positive Potvin you will lose your Wolfpack membership card. |
