If the Isles can trade for Weber or Ryan you'll see how fast I'll turn into a sheep. |

According to an IPB poster per NHL LIVE show, the Isles offered ‘most of their picks’ to Columbus but were declined? the Isles wanted Murray. |

I think it could be a double sword... I think he was traded for so he could help the team and or the cap. IF we make a trade at some point for Tim Thomas.. then THIS (visnovsky) was nothing more then a cap maneuver.
IF they trade for TT & Vis doesn't show.. thats 10 million to the cap.. without having to pay a cent of it. I dont like it.. but ya gotta admit its pretty smart.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
I don't know if that's the right terminology? I think Thomas would be blatently obvious more so than Visnovsky. If this guy doesn't report it seems pretty blatant to me. You don't trade a second round pick for someone who isn't sure if he's going to play in the NHL this coming season. It's kind of ridiculous. We are rebuilding and that is a waste of a valuable asset. Smart is not the right word. It's troubling that we are supposed to be making some kind of progress and I just don't see it? Stuff like this is ridiculous and makes the team look as such to us and everyone else. I know it's not confirmed and I'll see how it plays out but if you are going to spend money spend it on someone who can help your buisness investment succeed. Smart is not the right word. On that note I'm going to bed, good night all. |

I dont want to get into a pissing match on this one,... But if you are going to fill your team with inexpensive talented players & young inexpensive players.. while losing money on the team.... finding a way to cut 10 million from the amount someone else tells you.. you HAVE to spend.. is very smart. No matter how you feel about it... you have to see the smart business logic of it.

I disagree that it's smart. Especially the position that he's put the franchise in as of late. A move like this is just going to pull more fans away from the circus that's in town. And Wang won't spend anymore than the cap # even though he's not actually "spending" that money. It's ridiculous and IMO circumvents the integrity of the salary cap purpose as much as the Devils did with Kovalchuk. I hope they fix it somehow in the next CBA. |

Great Balky you are taking all of Wang's tricks away. How dare you expect him to run his team like a real owner? |

The problem with ole Wanger is that people are paying more attention to crap moves like this than they used to. |

It would be nice for Gary to step in and stop them. Better yet take the team from Wang that will fix the problem. |

DP will get another chance this season to fix that view.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX Yeah another chance to further embarrass himself, push that g.a.a to 4.00 and that save percentage to 870. Maybe even a chance to blow both his knees out. |

You cannot say it's a good draft yet X. Hopefully it is. You are really not surprised they drafted 7 dmen? Zharkov may have been worth a shot and I though the Isles were in a long rebuild so no need to replace PA for next year. - ses111
Right now I'm not sure if picking 7 "D" men was a smart move or a dumb one. It depends on whether we chose the correct "D" men. And It depends on who was still on the board after we made each of our picks. I think we may have come up short in both cases.
By no means was Reinhart the Best available "D" man at #4. Nore was he the BAP at #4. But he was ranked #10 by Central Scotting and ISS so it wasnt a big reach.
So I can live with the pick. Provided nothing strange transpires.
He should turn out to be a good "D" man for many years.
Truthfully I really lost interest in this draft after about the 15th pick.
At that point I kind of figured the Isles were going to remain Pat and draft a bunch of undersized Europeans or obscure HS players. I'm pleasantly surprised that did not happen.
Although I am disappointed in our 2nd rd pick, I like the 3rd and a couple of the later picks.
The one move we made. I never heard of the guy. And thats my fault but for a 2013 2nd rd pick. I want someone who's a bit younger and I want someone who will actually Play for the Islanders.
It's funny though. All yr long and especially during the past few weeks. Everyone said we need a Vet "D" man. A #1 ,#2 or at least a #3. And everyone said. NOT AN AGING VET. But what do we get with our #2 pick in 2013. An aging vet. And the Crowd goes wild!!!!! Well at least some of you were dancing in the streets. I'll hold my opinion on this guy when (IF) I see him play. Conspicuously looks like little more than a means to reach the floor. What ever that floor may be.

Even though a few of the prospects from my wish list were picked up by the Isles.
There was something anti climatic about this draft.
I have a feeling that Free Agency will follow suit. No No. I'm sure UFA will follow suit as will any other trades we attempt to make this off season.
Isle's will go with Hamonic, AMac, Striet, Reese, then Donovan, DeHaan or Ness to open the season. Provided that schmuck from Anaheim doesnt report.
We'll hear and see all the same old stuff over the summer and during training camp.
In the end.
Same old same old.
If the underachievers finally achieve. We'll make some head wind. If they fall on their face like they usually do. Its a top 5 pick again next yr.
Criticize me if you like but Islander history is on my side. And as of today. I didnt see anything that happened yesterday to change my mind.
Not Yet anyway. And Not for this season.
Its to early to call it a good draft for the Isles. Come back in 3 or 4 yrs.
Thanks and Goodnight.
