You know it's funny, I jokingly said to one of my buddies that we should just draft all d-men since we are weak (going in to the draft) in that area. Wasn't serious and didn't think they'd actually do it. But I'm liking it.

Well this is amazing. Isle's actually drafted 3 guys off my wish list.

Reinhart, (although not my #1 choice) still a good choice. I think he'll prove his skeptics wrong with his physical game. Pelech & Somerby.

I like Somerby for shear size alone. The kid is gonna grow to massive proportions when he fills out.

I would have liked Thrower to but 3 "D" in 7 rds aint bad.

Let's just say it's not Jimmy D running the draft. Isles could have taken a wing or two in the draft. I'm sure were not 100% set at forwards.

Here's the idea behind this...........IMO.

1) D prospects always take longer to develop as we all know. The more they pick at one time, the chances are they're going to get a few good ones instead of picking and choosing here. It's just a better percentage.

2) Now that they have all these D prospects in the fold, we could use one of our current ones (DeHaan, Pedan) as trading pieces and not deplete the system completely.

Geez, can you let it play out for once instead of just knocking it so quickly?

With the addition of Schenn to PHI they now have 6 D making $3 million+ per. No way they can resign Carle now. I doubt the Islanders sign him because someone will overpay but it's an option.
