Reinhart really makes out defensive prospect pool so much deeper. Reinhart, Mayfield, deHaan, Donovan, Pedan. Looks so much better with just one more high-end name thrown into the mix. |

Reinhart, Mayfield, and Pedan really give the Isles great size on D. Hope Isles can add a high end name to this core. |

and his assessment was.......(i had to go re-read) a negative and a positive.
"Used to be shy but I think he will develop".... Corey whats-his-nuts has a future career in politics.
I'm happy with Griff as our pick. That's gotta be his nickname. That's what people called my grandfather, last name Griffen.
I think I'll go celebrate with some cold beers and loose women.
Good nite all!

Radek was on TSN.ca cover today, in the picture with Bobrovsky. Looked like a shoot out attempt.....I mean....when was Radek ever point-blank THISCLOSE on a goalie?
Better question.....did we ever have a shootout with Philly where Radek would have gone????/ I don't recall....probably not. |

All he said was that he used to be shy physically and is not anymore. He may not be Scott Stevens but he won't be Ty Wishart. Read the whole article, it's almost overwhelmingly positive:
Reinhart is a very toolsy big defenseman who has progressed nicely over the last year and even since the start of the season. He looks like a legit offensive defenseman who is well above average skill-wise considering his 6'4" frame. He's a smart player who is able to be effective in all situations and has learnt how to make the most of his tools, rather than your usual big defenseman who at 17-18 typically are much more raw. Reinhart is above average with the puck, showing good poise, and is quite calm under pressure. What separates him from other big defensemen is that he has the puck skills to make people miss, execute all the little plays in tight quarters, and to deliver crisp, accurate passes consistently. Reinhart also has a more aggressive offensive element to his game as he will join the rush and doesn't shy from being creative in the offensive end of the rink. He also has a pretty big shot from the point that he can put a lot of his big frame into. The thing that has seen Reinhart establish himself so well in the industry has been his improvements. He used to be a fringe skater but he really moves around better and his first few steps don't look as heavy. He also used to be a little shy with his physical work and got the label of a timid big man. While he isn't a crash and bang killer on the back end, he uses his body just fine now and I don't have any reservations from projection a high-end physical game from him at the highest level.
Ranking Explanation: This decision was a hard one as Reinhart and Lindholm are very close. Reinhart has better puck skills, better defensive hockey sense, and a better physical game. They are both equal puck movers and Lindholm is a much, much better skater. Reinhart has slightly better raw puck possession skills and a slightly better physical game, but the edge was closed considerably by the huge gap in skating ability. In a very close call, I went with the player who has better possession skills as I have more confidence in that translating at the next level in a position that already has development risk. |

Visnovsky's not a bad pickup at all.
Don't really know what to say...can't say I'm upset though.
Happy a (frank)ing pedo's going to jail, though, I can say that. I was actually worried for a second. |

In my opinion, CBJ still wound up with a number one pick. Murray is going to look great next to Johnson. |

Here's a question for anyone who was at the draft party. Does anyone recall who was signing with Donovan and Nelson? I could've sworn it was Ullstrom but he signed #28 on my hat and I know that's not his #. Ugh, this is going to bother me. |

I wasn't there but I saw a picture of Donovan, Nelson, Halmo, Landry, Ullstrom, and Cizikas (I think it was most of those guys anyway) |

while i dont think you guys drafted the best (buffalo) the draft night for the isles would have been the best if the pens didnt go and steal the show
you got a great dman who will be an anchor for you guys for years to come, and a top offensive dman for a 2nd round pick, either way you slice that it is a very very successful first day |

There are guys I assumed would get drafted in the 1st round that didn't so I'd rather them over Zharkov. Aberg and Collberg are two guys I'd love to see the Isles snag at 34. Loads of skill.
Unfortunately I can't imagine he'll still be there at 60 for you. |

For anyone that gives a crap, here's some guys I would personally like to see us take at 34 tomorrow. A few I was surprised didn't get picked tonight:
Pontus Aberg - LW - 5' 11.25'' 189lb - Great skater, great speed, great shot (real good 1 timer) good hands, needs to work on defense. A little on the small side.
Sebastian Collberg - RW - 5' 11'' 180lb - Great skater, good agility, great top speed, above-avg puck skills, deadly wrister..super fast release, plays with an edge, decent hockey sense. Also on the small side.
Anton Slepshyev - LW - 6' 2'' 187lb - Good agile skater, high-end puck skills, hard to check off puck, good shot. Needs to put on weight, risk of not coming over due to playing in KHL.
Matt Finn - D - 6' .25'' 199lb - Good mobile skater, good puck carrier, great hockey sense, very good defensively, shows some grit for avg size d-man. Needs to bulk up.
Ludvig Bystrom - D - 6' .75'' 169lb - Advanced puck-mover, high hockey sense, effective defender/works hard physically for smaller guy, good skater, low panic. Smaller.
Nikolai Prokhorkin - C - 6' 2.5'' 189lb - Above avg puck handler, great hockey sense, good playmaker, gifted passer. Nice frame, could use some muscle.
Tim Bozon - LW - 6' .75'' 183lb - No major flaws, no super standout skill either.
Nicolas Kerdiles - LW - 6' 1.5'' 190lb - Not flashy, very well rounded 2way player.
Daniil Zharkov - RW - 6' 3.5'' 208lb - Good skater, nice speed, plus puck skills..can dangle, goal scorer/finisher, nice physical game. Defensive game needs work.
Ville Pokka - D - 5' 11.75'' 205lb - Very good hockey sense, advanced d-man for 17yr old, calm w. puck, impressive defensively, will engage physically but needs work in that area, skating could use work.
Martin Frk - RW - 6' 193lb - Amazing hands/shot, below-average skater, average hockey sense, very skilled highlight-reel type player, one of the best shots in draft, elite one timer, strong, gritty side to game. Concussion.
There are probably a few more, I left out Thrower because I already know everyone likes him. No particular order, although I would say that I'd personally like to see them take Aberg or Collberg. I really like Zharkov too. Since we took Reinhart I think we should try and add a talented forward while we still can..preferably a winger as we are pretty damn deep at center. This is all based on Corey Pronman's in-depth analysis of his top-100 players so take it with a grain of salt as he is not the end-all be-all of prospect scouting. Take it for what you will, a few of them I got lazy on and just didn't feel like typing everything out because it's late. |
