If it happened it should at the very least cost Bettman his job, it would be the 3rd lockout under his watch.
- ob18

I think that is the best possible outcome. A short work stoppage that costs Bettman his job but doesn't ruin the season. And hopefully yields a better salary cap system, less restrictive rules for things like over 35 contracts and buyouts.

I was relieved to read Pronger is staying active in the organization. With that in mind, I would be very satisfied to see the Flyers trade for Erik Johson. If it would cost JVR and a little more, I would do the deal.

Also, I wouldn't mind Schenn getting a crack on wing on G's line. I thought he played very well with Briere when he was playing wing.

Trade for Johnson (still young enough that he still can potentially evolve into a top pairing d-man), keep your first round pick, move Schenn to wing with G, resign Carle, and what do you know still have some cap flexibility left.

I just know that tomorrow while I'm driving through Bum(frank), Georgia, the Flyers will end up trading for Bouwmeester or something

not with those conkies and that female dog ass attitude
- flyerscup2011

That's what makes it not a slam dunk. Skill/talent/work ethic he is the complete package, and still the best in the game when healthy. You have to think long and hard about someone like that.

As for the attitude, I don't like it either, but I realize my opinion on that is heavily influenced by the sweater he wears. I imaging if he'd been a Flyer for his entire career we'd all feel a little differently about the attitude and the whining.

In any case it would be a tough call on the trade for me, and I imagine for most that can stay objective.

it would be worse than that because that only lasted until the game was over. The trade he speaks of would haunt us for years.

Certainly a lot can change, I like the Johnson idea for several reasons. First, I don't think Weber is available. Second, he has loads of potential and you won't have to gut your forward depth like you would with other trades. He is still a RFA so you have cap room flexibility bringing him on board.

I have no interest signing Parise to a 13 year deal (rumor Wild are ready to offer that). Too many assets to acquire Nash. I don't think there is a fit to acquire Ryan in what the Ducks would be looking to get back. I think Schenn has enough skill to develop into a Gagne type winger with a little bit more of a physical edge. Plus, keep the first round pick and continue to build organizational depth.

Without debate, I'm okay with Bouwmeester if the Flyers explore other options first. And by looking into other options, I mean this trade goes down mid summer if nothing else comes to be.

In Columbus, he would definitely be a top 3 forward. On the Flyers, as much as I like JVR, he's going to really have to earn his minutes both even strength and PP. Not so much in Columbus.
