Don't mistaken me for a guy who's trying to say he's getting traded to Toronto...I'm just debating the fact that he won't get a strong return. He'll fetch a return that garners a "meh" reaction on both sides. - Juice
I don't think he will get a great return either but they won't be taking back a bad contract ,we have enough of them already. |

The Canucks are the team with 2 all star caliber goaltenders....they have more leverage than you think. - hertzman
10 year contract dude....to a GM that despises contracts longer than 6 years.
I'd like to think I'm one of the more realistic Leafs fans around and also a fan that doesn't want Lou and that contract in Toronto. I get that as a Nucks fan you want a good return for him and will see it from Gillis point of view as to why he should get as big a return as possible...but I promise you you will be disappointed...I also hope I'm wrong (as long as he gets traded somewhere other than toronto) and that you guys get a crap load for him and (as I have done in the past) will gladly come on this board and say "Good for you guys, I was completely wrong".
But I'd like to think I'm looking at this scenario with completely unbiased eyes and truly think the trade will be "meh" worthy. Unless in some crazy way guys like Kassian start getting involved at which point it's no longer just a Loungo trade. |

Oh, i am pretty sure the deal includes a Franson and a prospect like D'Amigo, but Vancouver will also send back a prospect of its own.....Gillis will not let his hand be forced.... - chompsey
Neither GM will.
If this was JFJ representing Toronto then I'd be grabbing my ankles. |

I'd be very disappointed if MG does make a deal with Toronto and doesn't get more back than Franson, Komi and a 2nd/mid level prospect. I'd rather not take back the Komisarek deal unless we get back more value with him or instead replace Komisarek's contract with a better one in return. - Nucker101
He won't make that deal, if he was going to accept it, he would have done it already because that deal blows..... |

Komi only has 2 years left and he could actually be a good fit in Vancouver, and if so resigned for less afterwards. HUGE difference between Komi's 2 years and Lou's 10. |

Except for the fact that Gillis has stated that he wants to get younger, Komi does not help this..... |

Don't get me started on that.
Franking Wilson and his nancy-boy style of coaching that completely ignores any aspect of defense and agression.
Although I do honestly think Burke just plain and simple messed that up...probably just assumed he'd build a strong angry team and then forgot to actually make sure he stuck to his plan. |

I dont think he will have the ability to be too picky though...there's only going to be 1-2 suitors for Lou. |

Can't argue with that assessment, although I was quite amused with the constant "player x is not a Burke type player" rhetoric from a faction of TML fans..... |

How is it terrible? In a salary cap world, contracts like Lou's kill his value. Getting Franson in the deal would be as fair as it gets. There's no way any 1st round picks or decent prospects outside of Jerry D'amigo get sent to Van for Lou.
As for the Dion trade....dude, of course they're going to still chirp about the Dion deal...regardless of how Dion has or hasn't turned out...it's still simply amazing that for his potential alone that the leafs were able to trade piles of garbage (except White) for him. - Juice
So in one paragraph you say Lu is worthless because of his cap hit and in the next you say the trade to acquire Dion is amazing despite his. Interesting... |

I'm beginning to believe less and less in the credibility of that twitter account.

That's tampering, don't let the "count" Bettman catch u“@NotBobbyLu:Burke just left a msg on my phone.I could hear him sweating from here.”

I think Lus's window to be moved was last year. Let his value increase again and we can try again in 3 years when Lack is ready |

The entire team is filled with "not a burke type player" that saying drives me nuts.
Kessel - not a burke type player so lets trade two 1sts and a 2nd
Bozak - not a burke type player so let's put him on the 1st line
Franson - decent shot, plays the game small - not a burke type player
Lombardi - not a burke type player...used to acquire Franson (see above on whether he's a burke type player)
Tim Connolly - the furthest thing from a burke type player
Liles - not a burke type player but he can move the puck so let's resign him while he's battling a concussion
Solid, solid moves!!!! |

This exact signing epitomizes why Luongo will fetch a better return from TO than most people think. Burke lost out on Richards so panicked and signed Connolly, history is getting close to repeating itself......

Ummmm, nope, sure didn't say that.
If you could, please highlight where I said Dion was amazing....I'll wait here.
And leafs fans would chirp an equal amount if they got to send Vancouver Komisarek, Lombardi, Crabb and Steckle for Luongo.
Just like you would chirp if you sent Raymond, Higgins and Ballard to Tampa for Lecavalier. you'd hate the contract but you'd love getting the player who's capable of being very dominant. And that's exactly how Leafs fans feel about the Dion trade. |

Komisarek - Is a Burke type player so lets drive a dump trunk full of money up to his house.
Finger and Exalby - would be Burke type players if they could play hockey.

Yeah, probably a couple of them are offers like "I'll give you Komisarek and a 5th rounder"
or
"I'll give you Wisniewski for Luongo"
I hardly call those offers. |
