No worries man. I couldnt agree with you more. I honestly think Garth is going to do something.......i mean he has to. When he sat with Wang and Crappy before last season and basically said the team was ready to make the next step (playoffs), he started his own clock.........and its ticking. Noone was fooled with his bush league moves last minute. It screamed panic to me........and the end result proved it.
To me, I say, trade with Montreal, and try and get Subban off their hands. If it means we take on Gomez, so be it. This site says he makes 5.5 shmill this year and 4.5 next. Thats basically what DP makes and he doesnt even play. Im not a huge fan of Gomez, but he can skate still, and he cant be worse than Rolston, for similar money. Heck, put him on Tavares' wing.......he can create space. PK Subban is exactly what the isles want......a mobile defenseman who can do it all. Plus, he's boys with JT!

Bergevin already said he's not trading Subban.

Sorry I thought you said we just finished year 5... my bad.
This is a big year for the Isles... Snow needs to make a move @ the draft.
No playoffs.... no more Snow!!! - jimmc7722
Without Garth Wang would have to do all deals through Rosetta Stone... |

I was talking about the draft. These boards are filled with people talking about this prospect and that prospect. Bobby Ryan is a good player, but i wouldnt give up 4 first round picks for him. - kindlyrick
Neither would I, hopefully nobody with a brain would. |

What would you offer Pittsburgh for Staal? - kear20
He's an UFA in a year who's not durable or very productive but will demand huge money.
I would offer only a player who's a pending UFA on this team which right now is Parenteau.

Staal is a second line center, we need an offensive threat. Whoever gets Staal is going to be offering up a first and a top 6. No way he goes within the division. |

You do realize how few trades are made in this NHL right?
The player usually dumped is not producing, is a pending free agent or the team is unloading after they fall out of contention. Half those players usually wind up on waivers. - NYI
Did Philly not trade Richards and Carter at the draft last season? You never know what a team wants to do..........one mans garbage is another mans gold. Its not our jobs to search the web for who's available and why they're available. Garth should make a list, and go after them.........im not talking about UFA's, im talking about aquiring players through trades.

Snow totally should have moved PA at the deadline. Its mind boggling that he didnt.

hard to trade your second best point producer in the middle of a cup run... |

No one said only defensive players... And some players that Florida took the gamble on and over paid with balloon contracts got them to a game 7 with the conference champs. - brodydog29
Florida took the gamble? They had four more regulation wins than the Islanders and managed to lose 18 games in overtime.
So what you are saying is trading for Brian Campbell's contract who was an overpriced joke in Chicago is the kind of move Snow should make. That he should offer Hamrlik or Souray an over 35 four years sixteen million contract like Jovanovski got.
Why not give that offer to Aucoin and Hamrlik?
Heck why not do what Steve Yzerman did? Bruno Gervais, Bergeron for two years and Matt Gilroy.
You want to call up Burke and help him out with Komisarek's cap hit while he does his Jurcina impersonation for five million? |

Last year the rumor was his biggest offer was a 2nd rounder. If that rumor was true and (I doubt it) then I don't blame him on that one. |

Really? Cause I do blame him. When PA accepts his overpayment elsewhere, the isles are left with nothing for him. Seems to me Garths idea of what PA's value was, is a lot different then other GMs. There are plenty of talented players to be had in round 2

Like I wrote they traded Ed Snider's crazy ten year front-loaded contracts before the NMV/NTC kicked in for players. You want the Isles to start going there for players.
Then again you want Scott Gomez to play next to Tavares just to get Subban who's not being traded unless Erik Karlsson's brand new seven year deal is heading to Montreal for him.

We don't have a job here, but a little common sense as to how the market trade works for all 30 teams does have to be a reference unless you only wish to rant about things not realistic.

I think PA should be signed it's not like we don't have the cap space. If we have to overpay then so be it. No reason to just let him walk. |

We all knew the isles had no chance at the playoffs. You cant go on a 20 game losing streak (around 20), and expect to make the playoffs. Sure it can happen, but not with our roster.

Nah! I was thinking the Isles should continue their plan of dominance and continue to play young guys and then dwindle them away for absolutely nothing like they did with Comeau. LOVE IT! |

And in three years when Ryan's contract is up (two if a lockout, one before he has to be traded before he hits UFA unless Wang gives him 60m front-loaded) what's left?
Amazing how a fifty seven point player (who's team finished dead last in the West)
who scores at Moulson's pace is worth half or more of the entire Islander prospect base to some. - NYI
I have to agree with you on this one... I wouldn't trade what it would take to get him.

The isles dont need another soft forward. Yes PA put up "decent" and i do mean decent numbers, but he's not the answer. Tavares needs to play with a vet.
