Im not saying draft the most NHL ready player.........im saying the immediate need is to put a product on the ice that can compete. To do this, you need to have NHL talent. I read so many people on here talking about this draft prospect vs that one..........do fans really want another player to the list of 15 draft prospects waiting to make the team? At what point does this team say, hey, we need to make the playoffs? - kindlyrick
I don't disagree that it would be nice to get some immediate help, I don't think anyone does. Where I tend to not kill Snow as hard as most others is in the trade department. Has he made any real impact ones? No, no argument there. But this elusive, hypothetical "top 6 forward" or "top 4 defenseman" that everyone screams we need to trade for doesn't necessarily exist. Most of the time teams aren't in the business of trading away their best players for a bunch of picks and unproven prospects. And when they do it's usually because someone pays an absurd price. Bobby Ryan is rumored to be back on the market now...would you give up #4, Okposo, Strome, Nelson and likely something more for him? I'm not sure I'm ready to part with that much talent for one player, as much as I know he's a great player. |

I agree with 100 Percent....who is the mythical player to take us to restore credibility
Sign wideman, trade down and grab reinhardt, trade KO and a 2 for heatley
Make a play for allen, would like PAP back though unlikely...no goalie circus this year |

Wideman and Allen aren't signing with the Isles and it will cost more then ko and a 2nd for Heatley. Also Why trade down? |

The asking price for Rick Nash was, and likely still is, insanely high. They wanted a 1st, Kreider, Dubi, and MDZ/McDonagh.
Ryan is far more valuable than Nash, in that he's probably more skilled, slightly younger, and on a vastly more manageable contract. I would say the asking price for him would be as high or higher than Nash. |

How about this year's #1, Grabner, deHaan and Nino for Ryan and a defenseman...if I have to give up Strome...so be it... |

That would be highway robbery on Snow's part and Bob Murray would have his job terminated. Of course I would do it, but I can't imagine a scenario when the Ducks would pull the trigger on that. They aren't trying to dump him, so they're not going to take it on the chin just for the sake of trading him. |

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
If ANA moves Ryan I suspect it would be for two or three building block pieces that would increase organizational depth but not payroll.
Let's see...you'll have to give up the #1 pick, deHaan and they would probably want Strome or Hamonic... |

He IS a great player.. i never said he wasn't, but we need to get solid D-men.. we need to ice an NHL d-corp... that is first & foremost... Once we do that, see what this team has.. THEN tweak the O which we are very heavy in prospect wise.

I saw it, I still don't think that would get it done. Grabner, in my own personal opinion, was a one-hit wonder '10-'11 season. And that's me being nice about it. I pretty much think he's garbage, in terms of a top 6 forward. Outside of his speed and his takeaway skills, he's average at everything else. deHaan is still a big question mark, but undoubtedly has good potential. Nino is the most valuable piece, outside of the #4, but also comes with major concerns stemming from this past season that are only going to hurt his trade value.
Nino and the #4 are the only things I'd really consider building blocks in that trade. |

I'm excited about Strome, but I'd include him in a (reasonable) deal for Ryan in the blink of an eye. |

Grabner could be a good Western Conference player because of his speed...but why talk about it when Snow is afraid to do anything... |

What is he afraid to do, what Milbury did?
Most of you sound like Milbury, 1st, deHaan, Nino, Strome, Grabner.
Why don't you throw in Tavares too.
20 other teams cannot afford to front-load contacts. Montreal and Toronto will not front-load a contract.
That's what the top free agents all get.
You want Wang to give someone 20m for the first two years of a contract call Mangano, Kate Murray and tell them to give him a building where he makes enough money to where he can make such an offer.
The guy in Arizona will get Wang's deal from last summer in a modern building plus a seventeen million dollar check to be their Smg every year direct from the taxpayers.
Wang get's to renovate the Coliseum as tenant for slumlord Nassau. |

I think it will be our 2nd round pick and Nino to get Ryan...I would never trade Strome for him as Strome will be another Ryan type player. PAP looks likely gone, which stinks...now they are saying jokinen (how does he fit in our plan???) but Stoll may be likely. I still like Garrison and would love to get Klein out of Nashville..and of course R Murray at the draft..wow what a different look we would have then. |

A 2nd round pick and Nino for Ryan?? Literally zero chance that would even scratch the surface of a trade for him. |

If you believe McKenzie tweet I think for the Islanders to be in the running for Ryan you would have to offer: the #1 pick, either Strome or Nelson and either deHaan or Donovan. You might get to the table for that package... |

Then Goodbye Nelson De Haan and the #1 pick. Ryan is well worth that |

And in three years when Ryan's contract is up (two if a lockout, one before he has to be traded before he hits UFA unless Wang gives him 60m front-loaded) what's left?
Amazing how a fifty seven point player (who's team finished dead last in the West)
who scores at Moulson's pace is worth half or more of the entire Islander prospect base to some. |

Being a Ducks fan also I have seen Ryan play many times. The kid is exactly what the Isles need and certainly worth trading De Haan and Nelson who could be horrible at the NHL level. |
