GM's scout a lot as well though. Definitely not as much as the scouts but they still watch these kids play many times. Isn't JFJ the head of player development or the head of scouting for the Sharks? I know at one point he had some sort of title, he wasn't just a scout. - dionschenn
Of course they do, a list is compiled with a meeting with the scouts and they know who they are going to pick if that player is available, if not they go next on the list. |

I get it, it still doesn't change the fact when/if Burke makes a trade for Luongo that it will be on the grounds of a 10 year contract. The trade will be based on what's written, not what's speculated.
It's like leasing a car. The monthly payments are set based on the downpayment and the term of the lease, not "I may or may not buy this car out after my lease expires, so on the off chance that I do buy this car out, how much can you reduce my monthly payments?"
Are we good? - As_I_See_It
OK, how about this.
I'm a bazillionaire. I need a pickup truck for the next 6 years. After that 6 years, I may or may not need that pickup truck anymore.
The truck lot will only sell me a pickup truck with a 10 year contract.
But as I stated before, I'm a bazillionaire. So I couldn't really care less. I'll happily make the reasonable payments for six years, and at the end of six years, decide whether or not I want to keep driving the truck.
And if I decide I don't want the truck anymore, I'll drive it down to the Ricoh Centre parking lot, and park it there, where it will remain for the next four years. And I won't give a rat's arse about it. If my cousin Jimmy wants to drive it, great. If it gets stolen, great. I really won't care. I'll continue to make payments for the final four years of the contract, because it's just money, and I don't care about a measly $7 million dollars - it's just money, and it doesn't count against the spending cap my wife holds me to. I won't ever have to buy out the truck, because then my wife will hold those buyout payments against my spending cap. But if it sits in the Ricoh parking lot, it doesn't count against the cap. It's just money. And I'm a bazillionaire, so money means absolutely nothing to me.
So I get to use a truck for six years, which I need, and then at the end of the six years, I can either keep using the truck, or completely forget about it. Either way, it's just money - and I don't care about money.
Does that help? |

Burke will announce that trade just before the Oilers step up to make the first pick at the draft, his little way of stealing the spotlight |

Yeah, but everyone already trashes me on TruckBuzz anyways, so I don't really care what people think.

His contract will be for 10 years, we will win the Cup with him when he is 39 years of age. |

Zack Smith to Toronto makes perfect sense. The Leafs need a 3rd line center with size and toughness.
The Senators need a D-Man like Cody Franson to replace Kuba and soon to be Gonchar.
Both are young and both help fill the other teams needs despite being rivals.

Yeah but then, while your sipping your Macallan 64, you remember you don't give a poop about what other people think because you're a bazillianaire.
Edit: Anybody sitting near an Italian soccer fan may want to move outside of spitting distance.
Double Edit: poop, nvmd ...i jinxed it. |

Only 21 years old. When he and the Leafs make the playoffs, he'll be growing epic beards. Just thought I'd point that out. I have really nothing to add to the current topic of conversation. - AnnGee44
Have you seen Browns beard he's growing?
He's not shaving until November, Leafs twitter posted a progress picture of it.

Don't know if you ladies follow Canadian rugby, but Adam Kleeberger's beard was the greatest of all time:
Bad news: he shaved it off.
Good news: it was for charity. |

Great insight as to why not!
I actually enjoyed watching us get speed bagged by the Bruins so why bring in a big young center who has decent hands and doesn't mind throwing em.
I've seen your posts so your opinion doesn't matter...Any hockey guys who watch and understand the game do this trade |
