Anything of Value??? You do realize that guys like Komisarek and Connolly have a negative value right.
I'm not saying a great return...but if it's Komisarek or Connolly there will be more involved from the Leafs perspective. Mark my words. - stormeyAlterEgo
ok.. i know and have openly admitted that komi getting moved is a pipe dream
connolly is exactly what gillis would have to take on, one year.. blh blah blah we've all heard the routine
anyways, i dont even want Loungo anyways, would rather stick to the kids
so my final summary of Luongo would be that he is a top flight world class goalie who has very little trade value due to his contract.. which is unfortunate for the nucks.. if he were to be say.. signed for 3 years.. the nucks would be able to take home the bank on him |

But what's the better option to getting that pay day? ....signing a modest 3 year deal at the risk of sharing time with Lou? ...or riding it out for 1 possibly strike shortened year then signing some mega-deal as a UFA next summer? I like the latter choice better if I'm his agent. UFAgency is where you get max pay.
Parise made that same choice. - The Law
Pretty well everyone makes that choice. If Vancouver fans are banking on Schiender being a "good guy" and not looking for a the payday, they will be disappointed again. These hockey players are money hungry. |

Problem with Canucks fans is
1. They think Luongo is the only goalie out there.
Newflash, theres 28 other teams in the league with goaltenders, and free agency.
If Luongo doesn't come cheap, no biggie for us, we'll just look elsewhere. Have fun trying to find a team for Lu. |

Florida is below the cap floor and luongo lives there. He canbe there starter and teach markstrom then leave when markstrom is ready. Gillis hates burke so if he is trading luongo for spare parts cause he can't find a deal it sure as hell won't be toronto. So good luck with your low ball offers because MG would rather trade with the panthers like he has in the past many times. - Jake_1723
If the Panthers are in fact interested...I think they make a better trade partner and can send Theodore to backup Schneider. There just hasn't been any chatter that anyone other than Toronto is going after Lu.
That's not to say that no one is...just can't assume that Gillis for sure does or doesn't have other options. Lu won't get traded for 1 bad contract (komisarek) as no deal is better than that one. But if he can add a mid-tier prospect and a mid-round draft pick along with a shorter-term contract, both sides can win the trade and nobody gets fleeced. |

Because Chicago hasn't expressed any interest whatsoever in getting Luongo. - Atomic Wedgie
Did Tampa express interest in Lindbach?
Funny...I don't remember anyone in the Leafs organization come out and say they were interested in Luongo. |

I'm not sure that'd be enough to get Thornton and Clowe. |

Scrivens is not a bad goaltender to have... Reimer had concussion symptoms all year much like Miller had for most of the year..
Trust me.. I know the feeling.. Its just that they need more insurance than that..
Why does it have to be Luongo...?
Harding, Bernier, and Bobz are all "available".. |

Burke gets fired if the Leafs miss the playoffs. Luongo is his only ticket to the playoffs.
Gillis knows this and is going to fleece Burkie. - Scooby_Doo
Seems reasonable.
Correct my mistake its your only play, or else you'll be fired... Take on an Albatross contract... And while your at it, I want quality assets back in return

really? that's the dumbest...
Someone from Toronto said Luongo for Komisarek + 3rd.
If Toronto is the trading partner, I could see Schenn, MacArthur + 2nd being the deal. - Scooby_Doo

So, what happens if Lu asks for a trade?
What's Gillis going to do then?
He'll have even less leverage.
Is he going to keep a goalie who wants out, or is he going to trade him when teams offer up very little? |

I think Burke would rather be fired after the season, then before it even starts. |

For some reason, I could see Lu coming back here. I think he and Markstrom would be a better tandem than Theodore/Markstrom. I also think Theodore could go back the other way.. along with some other salary.. and be a great mentor for Schneider. He is clearly ready to take over in the crease. At the same token, we should let Clem go and bring Markstrom up to back up Luongo. Markstrom would be called upon a reasonable 15-20 games a season, and all is right with the world. Who goes back the other way? Theodore plus.... |

Honestly... Thornton and Marleau should be traded if the right deal came along.. both of them are at the top of their respective hills and are coming to the downside of their careers very soon...
Now if it is paired with the youth of Clowe and Pavelski.. then no..
but I personally think that SJ should listen to offers for Thornton/Marleau. |

Why don't the Canucks just stop exploring trades for Luongo and keep him as a back up if they want quality assets in return?
Forget that you'll have around 10 million a season tied up in goalies, the cap is going up remember? |

Yes, we realize that. We absolutely realize that.
Now take a quick gander at Luongo's contract, his playoff stats, and his age, and hopefully you can come to realization of your own. |

Probably not. Even though you'd be trading for an unstable asset, Parise is a high caliber player so they would likely demand "too much" for a return. |

If you want Schenn+MacArthur+2nd rounder for Lu, then you better throw in a guy like Bieksa or Kesler.
Doesn't mean it's fair, or it's worth it. But if you don't, it's not worth our time and assets, and im sure Burke would love to look somewhere else.
It's either take Komisarek and something like a 3rd rounder, or keep Luongo and his ridiculous contract. And have to pay 2 goalies a pretty penny.
Pick one. |

I think there has to be a prospect or young roster player in there too as well as a better pick: like Komisarek (to negate salary), 2nd round pick, D'Amigo. |
