so when do you think they will get down and start talking contract with parise?
need to get him signed soon so we can also focus on who else to re-sign or sign
such as
poni?
salvador?
+others
while sal played great this year, i wouldnt be too upset if he left, it would mean we could bring up urbom or someone else, but also depends how much sal will be asking for
What do you think, was proposed in the Trade Wars comment section... - _Zippy_
First off they can't trade Volchenkov because he has a NTC but it would be a fair trade. I know the Devils would never trade Clarkson but I think this is the perfect time to trade him. He had a career year but I feel he's only going to go down. He gets most of his goals on the PP and i feel he's too slow still. In the playoffs he was a non-factor most of the time (as well as some other Devils). He's on his last year of his contract (at 2.6mil cap hit) and next year he might want a bigger raise which he won't deserve. I think the Devils should shop him because I believe other teams might actually overpay for him now (last year we couldn't give him away). With this being said maybe the Devils could package Clarkson with Tallinder (who brought his value up during the SCF) for something good. Also moving Tallinder and his 3.25 cap hit might be good as well. They have a few young kids who might need a spot here next year (Urbom, Gelinas, Burlon, Merrill) plus it saves some more cap space to try and improve this team offensively.
......crazy idea of the day, besides re-signing Parise maybe the Devils could trade for Radulov rights (Clarkson/Tallinder). He friends with Kovy and I believe here with this team he would turn around his game much like Kovy did and Kovy would be a good influence on him. Just an idea.

Clarkson won't replicate his numbers, mostly because Zajac will take his PP spot. He is still a solid third line player. I'd say no to Radulov, he will be more of a problem than a solution. A lot better options out there, IMO. The upside is there, but there is a lot of concerns. If we really want to grab someone, I'd consider Whitney, Huselius, Pancakes, Kostitsyn, Hagman, Samuelsson, I don't want to risk assets on Radulov.

Devils have over 28 million, which gives us more than enough to resign the players that Lou may keep, Parise, Salvador, Brodeur, fourth line. Now we would have probably around 12 million if they are resigned.
So, I was on TSN reading the comments and a player that I have completely forgot would do well in Jersey with Parise. Paul Statsny. So, would you do this trade:
To NJ:
Paul Statnsy
Rights to Jay McClement
To Colorado:
1st this year
Zubrus/A-Train
Urbom
Or something of this magnitude. - Devils9503
We need a top tier defensman. Our forwards only really need some minor tweaking here and there.

idk why we'd have to trade for his rights.. we'd still have to resign him and if he doesn't want to for our price then he'll be gone anyway. We're not giving up Zubrus, Clarkson or Tallinder. Those are key guys in my opinion. If we had a Zubrus on the RW of every line, we'd be amazing.
I wouldn't mind Radulov. 2 years/6mil? 7? I don't think he's worth that much beause he hasn't shown that much but I'm sure some teams will go after him.
Parise-Zajac-Zubrus/Elias
Kovalchuk-Henrique-Radulov
Elias/Zubrus-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier/albany player.
I'd like to try Parise-Zajac-Elias. We know ZZZ works great, but Elias just has so much talent. I hope he was injured in the playoffs and not just showing his age. He looked to be missing a gear.

Samuelsson > Poni. He'd be perfect next to Josefson-Clarkson. Whitney would be awesome on either of the top 2 lines.. even at his age. Huselius has some skill but the injuries scare me way too much.

How bout Knuble? He is like Zubrus, just scores more.

Samuelsson, Whitney, Knuble, and Konopka would be the only forwards that peak my interest. You could have anyone of the first three on one of the first three lines. Konopka would probably be used more as an face-off guy, so Gionta could probably be put on that third line if Konopka was in on the fourth line with Bernier and Carter.

Knuble is useless at this stage in his career. Absolutely useless. I like Whitney and Konopka, but no way in hell would I condone Lou signing Knuble.
Knuble of 2-3 years ago I would be fine with but hes done now - bobert836
Just checked his stats and man he had a terrible year. Only 6 goals in 72 games. Would be a gamble now, but if it was for cheap than I'd still sign him, but after offering Samuelsson and Whitney first.

Yeah, I left a comment on the other guy. Just damn.

Don't see whitney as a fit. I'm skeptical he can repeat last years production, especially on NJ where his role would be completely different. He'd be behind Elias, Kovy, and hopefully Parise on the wing and wouldn't even land on the top PP unit. He got first line minutes and top powerplay duties in Pheonix. If he's looking for good minutes, he stays in Pheonix. I don't want him if he's looking for money or a multi year deal because I feel another team would be willing to overpay.

He's a righty too. But I think he'd be a great complimentary piece. Maybe he could be in Zajac/Clarkson's spot on the PP. Doubt he'd put up the same numbers, but he is a great second-liner at this stage. Further strengthens our flexibility and our depth.

He would most likely fill in on the third line same goes for Samuelsson. Whitney would probably get like 30-40 points, not 77, and that may be pushing it.

I don't mind Samulsson, but no more than 2 years and would still prefer someone with more grit. - rmdevil313
Not many gritty guys in the UFA market. Konopka would be the only one, but the one of Bernier/Gionta/Carter would be out. I'd personally like a Carter-Konopka-Gionta fourth line with all three playing PK minutes.

Third line, no. He'd be on the second line, not saying those are lines, just showing the players we have. You'd be stupid to play Zubrus or Clarkson over him on the second line.
